Spain's sweet off-road-racing-inspired entry in the brand's global custom motorcycle contest takes the crown.A couple of weeks ago, I wrote about the launch of the 2026 edition of its Triumph Originals challenge, which unveiled gorgeous custom Scrambler builds from across the globe. The edict was simple: reimagine a 400, 900 or 1,200cc Scrambler around a retro-leaning "Time Capsule" theme.Spain's Tamarit Motorcycles won the 2026 Triumph Originals challenge, beating entries from six other countries. - Credit: Triumph MotorcyclesThe contest has now ended, with Spain's Tamarit Motorcycles grabbing the title via a racing-styled Scrambler 400 XC dubbed "Miura."In the end, the bike's supreme style and "exceptional build quality" won over the international judging panel and online voters, beating out entries from Canada, China, France, Italy, the UK and the USA.From its color-matched hand guards to its knobby tires, the Miura is well equipped to tackle off-road adventures. - Credit: Triumph MotorcyclesUltimately, Tamarit claimed 33 percent of the public vote and the highest combined score from the judges. The panel included Chase McQueen, grandson of Steve McQueen, bestselling author and journalist Eric Hendricx, German motorcycle journalist and Fuel magazine founder Rolf Henniges and Satoshi, cofounder and lead mechanic of Japan's Fonk Motorcycles. The bike's elegant tank pinstriping, matching saddle and classic number plate play together beautifully. - Credit: Triumph Motorcycles"Quique Berna and the Tamarit team created a motorcycle that impressed both the public and our judging panel," said Triumph Chief Product Officer Steve Sargent, who chaired the panel."Their Scrambler 400 XC captures the spirit of the Time Capsule brief in a really original way, while delivering an exceptionally high standard of design, engineering and execution. It is a worthy winner of Triumph Originals 2026."The crafty cut-out around the headlight is one neat function-forward detail. - Credit: Triumph MotorcyclesTamarit team leader Berna, who served as a judge last year, clearly understood the assignment and appreciates the Scrambler's appeal."We have been building time capsules right from the very beginning," he said. "By focusing on elegance and exclusivity, we aim to create heritage bikes whose essence gets frozen, then reawakened years later, untouched by time. Like a white T-shirt, the Scrambler is timeless now and will still be in twenty years' time."Tamarit's winning entry rides on the 400cc platform, Triumph's most approachable and affordable Scrambler option. - Credit: Triumph MotorcyclesI'm a bit biased, but I must say I loved the US entry, a minty US Forest Service-inspired Scrambler 1200 X from Portland, Oregon's Triumph Columbia River. But if someone offered to let me spend this fall ripping trails on the Miura, I sure wouldn't think twice.About the Author:Now managing editor, Steve has served in a variety of roles with GP since 2019.
