Image Credit: VINwiki/YouTubeImagine being wrapped up in an Ibiza party scam while you are at the Nurburgring and miles away from any party. That is exactly what Ray from Ring Freaks recounted in a YouTube video by the VINwiki channel, founded by Ed Bolian. For added context, Ring Freaks runs car rental services around the famous German racetrack, where they drive around the circuit with an instructor, and it is an ideal way to celebrate a special occasion or to just go and have some fun around one of the world's greatest racetracks. In the VINwiki video, however, Ray recounted an unusual tale where the wife of a guy had booked him in for a driving experience around the track only for him to not show up several hours after the booking. That in itself isn't unusual, as Ray explained; people sometimes run very late or somehow forget they have a booking made.AdvertisementAdvertisementHowever, this was one of the more unusual examples of this situation. It led to a few interesting phone calls, and a tale that you probably wouldn't believe if Hollywood itself had scripted it. It shows that no day at the 'Ring is the same as the one before. What Actually Happened at the Nurburgring?Ray explained that the service they provide is for someone to come and rent a car to drive around the Nurburgring. On this occasion, the wife of a newlywed couple rang, asking if she could make a booking for her husband who was visiting the racetrack in a few weeks' time and to make it a surprise.Ray was more than happy to facilitate this request. So a booking was made for a Saturday morning, and everything was paid for in advance, with the car ready to go. But the guy didn't show up, although that isn't unusual. Some people are late, some people forget they had a booking, or they have an emergency and forget to inform Ring Freaks that they can't come. However, by lunchtime on this occasion, the wife emailed to ask if everything had gone well. But the husband hadn't arrived, so they rang the phone number on the booking, and it was the wife who picked up. She rang her husband up to ask where he was, before he rang the rental company around ten minutes later, explaining he was just running a bit late but to tell his wife that he would be okay. This is where it got very interesting. The Man Wasn't Even in GermanyImage Credit: PorscheThe wife rang back and said her husband said he was already driving and that it was going well. Not wishing to break up the marriage, the team said 'yes, everything is fine,' before the husband then rang back. "He was like 'Well, I need to be honest with you, I'm not at the Nurburgring,' and I said, well, we figured this one out," said Ray to VINwiki. But it transpired the guy wasn't even in the country.AdvertisementAdvertisementIt turned out a buddy of his wanted a party in Ibiza, so they went there instead, after his wife had spent a lot of money on renting the car out to him for his Nurburgring experience. With that information, Ray and his team urged the husband to just be honest with his wife, because even though it was quite a bad look, being honest with your loved one is still the best policy. The Situation Escalated Beyond What Ring Freaks ImaginedImage Credit: VINwiki/YouTubeIt was at that point that the wife turned up at the team's office! She had come to surprise him, but of course, he wasn't at the track. So they rang him back, urging him to drop everything and to come and do his trackday experience, even if he was going to be very late. It was at that point that a friend walked into the office and explained to the wife exactly what had gone on. We can only imagine what happened after that, but that marriage may have been on rocky ground after this incident. If you want more stories like this, follow Guessing Headlights on Yahoo so you don't miss what's coming next.
