The Mercedes-AMG CLE 646 Mythos Has Leaked Ahead of Its Official RevealGuessing HeadlightsHenry KelsallFri, September 11, 2026 at 11:30 AM UTCAdd us on GoogleImage Credit: Mercedes-BenzNo manufacturer wants its car to leak early. While hints and teasers might drop, car companies try to keep the details of their new machines close to their chests. However, it looks like Mercedes hasn't been so lucky, as the new Mercedes-AMG CLE 646 Mythos has leaked ahead of its reveal.Dutch publication Autoblog.nl was the first to break the news on the car, with a few other publications doing the same. The news came ahead of the car's anticipated reveal at the 2026 Formula 1 Grand Prix at the new Madrid circuit.Details are still a little sketchy on the new car, as the majority of what has leaked has been purely about how the new car looks. It comes just a few months after spy shots showed the car testing at the Nürburgring and being pushed to its limits.AdvertisementAdvertisementDetails we do have on the new car, however, make for exciting reading. It is expected to produce over 600hp from a massive V8 engine, and if it drives as it looks, it is going to be one incredible experience. Mercedes probably just hoped it wouldn't get out before it was supposed to!How Good Does the Mercedes-AMG CLE 646 Mythos Look?Image Credit: Mercedes-BenzThere is no denying that the new Mercedes looks incredibly aggressive. Arguably, it is one of the most aggressive-looking Mercedes designs in many years. The front in particular looks menacing, with the huge grille, the large vent on the hood, and the giant front splitter. Added canards also provide extra downforce on top of what the splitter already provides.Fender louvres help to direct airflow towards the rear of the car. At the back. The CLE 646 Mythos has a very sporty bumper, which includes an integrated diffuser. There is a huge wing fixed to the rear of the car, which also has a small gurney flap located between the two pillars. It is actually the side profile that makes the car look the most tame out of all the angles so far.Image Credit: Mercedes-BenzFrom the side, things look a lot more understated. We can see the louvres and vents behind the front wheels, but it is more subtle. The side of the car itself is quite smooth, with some aerodynamic parts evident at the base of the car. It certainly looks like a monster, and it should live up to the Mythos name that it is expected to carry. The big unknown, however, is what lies under the hood of this new Mercedes.V8 Power Is Expected To Be Under the HoodImage Credit: Mercedes-BenzIt isn't confirmed, but we do have an idea of what to expect from the engine in the new car. Reports from the likes of Autocar have stated it will have a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 under the hood, producing 646hp. The CL3 646 name is a hint of the power it is packing. That is a massive 203hp jump over the CLE 53. Mercedes did actually consider offering a four-cylinder plug-in hybrid in the Mythos, which was an engine it would have borrowed from the C63.AdvertisementAdvertisementHowever, there was considerable backlash from customers when Mercedes downsized the sedan's engine. So Affalterbach may have reconsidered, hence the expected decision to go with the twin-turbocharged V8 powertrain. It is widely expected that there will be no hybrid power at all, so the 646hp will all come from the V8 and its twin-turbochargers. The car is expected to cost six figures, and that is before any options are added. If you want more stories like this, follow Guessing Headlights on Yahoo so you don't miss what's coming next.
