This is the first Gunther Werks Speedster with an air-cooled flat-six. The potent twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter delivers 840 hp and 660 lb-ft. Carbon fiber body panels inspired by the GW Turbo have been added. Gunther Werks has wrapped up production of its ultra-exclusive Speedster with a final one-off called Project Endgame. Yes, the name is an obvious nod to Avengers: Endgame, and yes, the color scheme mirrors Iron Man’s suit. More importantly, it serves as a rolling reminder that when money is no object, a custom Porsche can get very wild very quickly. Like the other Speedsters from Gunther Werks, this one packs a Rothsport Racing-built 4.0-liter twin-turbo flat-six, good for 840 hp and 660 lb-ft of torque. But Project Endgame stands apart in one crucial way: it is the only air-cooled Speedster Gunther Werks has built, rather than water-cooled. A flat-fan system keeps the cylinders in check, while the air-to-water intercoolers are clad in 24-karat gold, which is exactly the kind of excess a car like this demands. Mated to the engine is a six-speed manual transmission driving the rear wheels. Like other Speedsters, Project Endgame’s body is made from carbon fiber but looks much more aggressive than others, as it takes inspiration from the Gunther Werks Turbo. As such, the standard Speedster ducktail spoiler has been ditched in favor of a huge carbon rear wing. There are also distinctive side air intakes, a new front bumper, and a more aggressive rear, complete with a carbon diffuser. Despite the addition of some extra parts, the car only weighs a touch over 2,600 lbs (1,179 kg). A Porsche In An Iron Man Suit Then there’s the color. Painted in True Candy Red, the car absolutely glistens under direct light. Contrasting the paint are 24-karat gold mirror and headlight bezels, as well as gold-painted accents on the buttress and the Porsche branding on the doors. The Marvel theme continues into the cabin, where Gunther Werks has crafted a bespoke shifter clad in 24-karat gold and set with green, blue, orange, pink, red, and yellow gems to signify each of the six gears, looking just like the Infinity Stones from the Avengers. There’s plenty more to like about the car’s cabin, including the carbon fiber sills and door panels, as well as the carbon-backed racing seats. The leather is a combination of red, black, and gold, with several additional gold accents on the dashboard and gauge cluster. It’s a lot, but then again, this was never meant to hold back. For a final Speedster, it goes all in and leaves it at that. Photos Gunther Werks
