Hyundai's latest Elantra has been spotted once again. This time, the CarBuzz spies have captured a great look at the interior, showing off Hyundai's new Pleos infotainment system. The images also get a good look at the car's door handles, as well as the new nose as Hyundai gets ready to launch its compact sedan. Sonata Family Resemblance Up Front CarBuzz/Valnet Up front, we can see more of the new Elantra's face than ever before. There is a strong family resemblance to the latest Hyundai Sonata, especially the main lamps that tilt in toward the front grille.A very square upper grille section is also poking out. Combine that with the visible roofline, and the Elantra is going to be much more square than the current car's design, which Hyundai describes as Parametric Dynamics. A new look for Hyundai wouldn't be out of place, as the brand continuously takes massive styling leaps from generation to generation and model to model. This is a very different car at the rear, too, compared with anything else from the brand. Tall, thin, and vertical tailights are a sharp departure from its current flat and wide lights. Though the rear is still very heavily camouflaged, the rear lights make the car look larger and more premium. It reminds us more of a Chrysler 300, not a new Elantra.Sharp door handle cut-outs reveal a shape that echoes the Hyundai Venus concept from earlier this month. The Venus has a much more extreme nose, but other details, including the roofline, are carried over from the concept car to the one we see in the latest images. Hyundai's New Pleos System Is A Big Change CarBuzz/Valnet Hyundai's new Pleos infotainment system is also clearly visible. We've seen the system already, launching in the new Hyundai Ioniq 3, and like in that vehicle, it comes with a small and basic dashboard display high up in front of the driver and a large center screen. In the Ioniq 3 (below), we can see that Hyundai is keeping most of the buttons for common controls. That vehicle has temperature, fan, and volume controls that are all real and not virtual. Even the heated seat buttons are buttons. We'll have to wait to find out if Hyundai is doing the same for this new Elantra.Hyundai Hyundai revealed the Pleos system in March 2024. It's the company's first completely integrated stack that includes the vehicle's operating system, infotainment, and even fleet management and mobility and logistics optimization.Pleos Connect is the Android Automotive-based infotainment platform. Hyundai has said it will have a smartphone-like UI and allow split-view and multi-window applications. Of course, it will have a voice recognition AI agent for voice command of the vehicle. We can expect to see the vehicle in-full shortly. Hyundai CEO José Muñoz said at the end of March that a new Tucson and a new Elantra would both launch this year. Those are the Korean launches, so they may not be on the road in the US for a while. But we'll at least know what to expect.Muñoz announced those two as part of a plan to bring 36 new or refreshed vehicles to market in North America by the end of the decade. We still don't have all the information as to what models, but the CEO did say that the first extended-range EVs would go on sale next year.2028 Hyundai Elantra Spy Photos (7)
