Polaris MRZR Alpha 6x6Who needs backup when you are the backup? The Polaris RZR is already a capable machine. Go to Polaris' Government and Defense business, click the MRZR option, and you up that ante even further. Options for armor, weaponry, defense logistics, field-necessary upgrades, and more are all at your disposal. Granted, you have to be a police or military to get one, but you get my point. It's the next evolution in the RZR chain, just like Charizard is the evolution of Charmeleon. My kids have just started the original Pokémon series on Netflix, if you can't tell. But what if you want to get to that next step? The RZR's Mega Evolution? Well, Polaris Government and Defense is working on just that for its clients in Australia, as the brand recently debuted a concept called the MRZR Alpha, a six-wheeled MRZR, complete with a ridiculous bed full of defensive and offensive capabilities, including a grenade launcher. Well, mortar, but semantics. My only question: When's the civilian version getting here?Get RowdyThe Government Wants Super Expensive Changes To GM's UTV-Style PickupThis Canadian Military EV Motorcycle Has An Old Front End, And Three Swappable BatteriesReporting by the military intelligence and security defense contractor Janes details that Polaris Government and Defense recently showed off both an MRZR Alpha 4x4 and an MRZR Alpha 6x6 at the Land Forces 2026 show in Perth, Australia, and that a handful of the MRZR Alphas have already been brought to Australia for clients to start assessing their capabilities and wants and needs from the platform.Speaking with Michael Cannell, Polaris' Asia-Pacific (APAC) sales and operations manager, Janes relayed that while specific feedback is still being held back from the Australian Army, there has been positive feedback from the overall tests. "There have been a couple of Alphas that have come into [Australia] for trials," said Cannell, adding, "And everything's progressing very well."This spec of MRZR Alpha 6x6 first broke cover earlier this year during its test with the USMC, and the grenade launcher I refer to on the back of the side-by-side is actually the Scorpion Light Mobile Mortar System from Global Ordnance Company. Yeah, that cannon out the back is a remotely operated mortar with a 48-round belt-fed ammo box.In this configuration, the MRZR Alpha 6x6 is a two-seat platform with a 3,600-pound payload capacity, and shares about 90% of its parts with the base MRZR Alpha, which means field fixes will be simple. Likewise, like its four-wheeled sibling, the 6x6 is designed to be carried in pretty much all heavy-lift aircraft, including the V-22 Osprey, which means that operationally, it's been engineered to be taken wherever the mission may need it.It's also cool as hell to look at, and Polaris, make an RZR for us normies with six wheels, please and thank you.
