Image: NissanThe Japanese automaker held the local premiere of the Primera EV at the recently concluded tenth Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS). The company previously used the Primera nameplate for an ICE model sold in saloon, liftback and estate body styles over three generations from the 1990s through to the 2000s.Nissan began the regulatory process for the launch of the Primera EV in the Philippines earlier this year, registering the model with the Department of Energy (DOE). The company says it plans to launch the model in the fourth quarter of 2026, according to a report from Autoindustriya.com.The Philippines is not the only market outside China where Nissan plans to offer the N7/Primera EV. Last year, the company filed trademark applications for ‘Primera’ in Oman, Bahrain and Malaysia in February and showcased the N7 at the Japan Mobility Show in October.In April 2026, Nissan announced that its Chinese joint venture with Dongfeng would export the N7 to Latin American and ASEAN markets. A few days after the announcement, a Drive report cited Richard Candler, the company’s corporate executive (CE) of Family, Product & Components Strategy, saying the N7 is a ‘very good candidate’ for Australia.The Chinese-spec N7 measures 4,930 mm in length, 1.9 m in width and 1.48 m in height, and has a 2.9 m wheelbase. Depending on the configuration, it offers 484 or 504 litres of boot space. Dongfeng-Nissan offers a choice between two single-motor FWD variants: one with a 160 kW/305 Nm motor and another with a 200 kW/305 Nm unit. The company uses a 58 kWh LFP battery pack in the former and a 73 kWh LFP battery pack in the latter, delivering a CLTC range of up to 540 kilometres and up to 635 kilometres, respectively.nissannews.com, autoindustriya.com
