Image: OhmeOhme is a British provider of EV home charging solutions, as well as a partner of the Volkswagen Group in the UK and Ireland. The firm announced this partnership will now extend to the rest of Europe: “This new integration with Volkswagen Group Info Services AG, will mean all Ohme users get a dedicated official API to pair the car with their Ohme home charger and read the car’s state of charge in near real time”. The new agreement includes battery-electric vehicles from the brands VW, VW Commercial Vehicles, Škoda, SEAT, Cupra, and Audi that are based on the MEB platform.Ohme’s smart chargers – such as the Wallbox Home Pro and the Home Pro MID, which features an MID-certified meter for legally compliant billing of electricity used for company cars – can automatically shift charging sessions to periods with lower electricity prices. This reduces charging costs without users needing to manually schedule sessions for these times. Over a year, significant cost savings can be achieved, assuming a flexible electricity tariff. In the United Kingdom, Ohme has already partnered with several prominent automakers and is the official home charging partner for Mercedes-Benz, Hyundai, Smart, Xpeng, and Genesis. With the VW partnership, this collaboration is now being extended beyond the UK. According to the British company, over 100,000 Volkswagen Group customers across Europe already use Ohme to manage their home charging sessions – though a breakdown by country is not provided. “This new integration means those drivers will now see their vehicle’s state of charge displayed directly in the Ohme app – removing the guesswork from the charging process and giving improved clarity over their energy use and costs,” Ohme stated.“We’re excited that Ohme is applying Volkswagen Group Charging Data to enhance its charging services,” says Lasse Schmidt van Hülst, Lead Sales & Key Account Management at Volkswagen Group Info Services. “As home electricity tariffs across Europe become smarter and more dynamic, Ohme’s expertise and software means this new integration with Volkswagen Group Info Services AG comes at the perfect time for EV drivers.”“We’re genuinely proud to be extending our partnership with Volkswagen Group Info Services AG in this way,” says Peter McDonald of Ohme. “Having direct access to the vehicle state of charge data means our customers get a truly hassle-free charging experience – the app does the hard work, automatically finding the cheapest times to charge. It’s a real statement of where Ohme is heading and underlines its commitment to giving EV drivers the best possible experience.”ohme-ev.com
