Dodge Future Plans: Copperhead Supercar, GLH ModelStellantis (Stellantis)Dodge has another icon in the works with the Copperhead, a high-performance two-seater from the SRT performance division at the bottom left of the slide below.We first heard the name at the 1997 North American International Auto Show in Detroit when Dodge showed the Copperhead concept below. Back then it was an alternative to the Dodge Viper—a $30,000 car with a 2.7-liter V-6. It was slated for production but plans were canceled and it never made it to an assembly line.Stellantis gave us a sneak peek at a new Copperhead concept during Investor Day presentations in Auburn Hills.Stellantis (Stellantis)The car in light gray had blue racing stripes, sculpted sides with big gashes for airflow, a low lip in front and a giant wing in back, along with dual tailpipes. No powertrain or production intent details were provided.AdvertisementAdvertisementThe Copperhead ups Dodge’s cred as a performance brand that doesn’t pretend to be practical.Dodge will also add a GLH midsize hatch to its lineup before 2030, resurrecting a name from a former econobox. It’s a back-to-basics muscle hatch and cousin to the forthcoming Chrysler AirFlow crossover, both of which will use the new STLA One platform for vehicles from small to midsize.
