Mercedes-Benz Malaysia, DC Handal unveil Hap Seng Star-branded 22 kW AC chargers at Bamboo Hills

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM) and DC Handal have expanded the latter’s already numerous charging facilities at Bamboo Hills with the unveiling of Hap Seng Star-branded chargers, joining the already-present Auto Bavaria-branded stations at the gastronomic hub along the Duta-Ulu Klang Expressway (DUKE).

The two chargers, which feature a backing with a prominent Three-pointed Star motif, appears to include the existing 22 kW Autel AC charger and a second one next to it, bringing the total number of DC Handal charge points at the location to ten. The cost of using the chargers is not yet known, but it should remain at the current rate of 90 sen per kWh. As is usual for DC Handal, payment can be made either by using the physical credit card terminal or through the JomCharge, ChargEV and Gentari Go apps.

According to MBM, the Bamboo Hills station is its sixth branded location in Malaysia, which already includes JomCharge, ChargEV and Gentari facilities at various luxury hotels and golf courses. There’s also a roving charge van that carries Mercedes branding, operated by Power Up Tech. President and CEO Amanda Zhang said the move was in line with Stuttgart’s Ambition 2039 strategy for net carbon neutrality.

“With Bamboo Hills, we are accelerating the charge, bringing our electric vehicle owners closer to an era where performance, innovation, and sustainability converge,” said Zhang. “This collaboration with DC Handal and Hap Seng Star reflects our strategic commitment to enhancing the Mercedes-Benz EV ecosystem in Malaysia, ensuring that every vehicle is supported by a robust and intelligent charging infrastructure.”

Zamri bin Mahmud, director of DC Handal, added: “Our partnership with Mercedes-Benz Malaysia at Bamboo Hills represents a significant step forward in delivering reliable, high-performance charging infrastructure that meets the expectations of premium EV drivers. By combining our technical expertise with Mercedes-Benz’s vision for sustainable luxury mobility, we’re ensuring that EV charging is not only fast and dependable but also seamlessly integrated into the places where people live, work, and play.”

Moving forward, MBM plans to expand its co-branded charging network to more “lifestyle destinations” nationwide by the end of 2025, as part of its “multi-channel” charging strategy to support its customers wherever they choose to charge.
