A woman took her car to Discount Tire for a full set of tires, handed over her keys, settled in with her coffee and computer, and prepared to wait. The amount of time it took caught her completely off guard. Jessica Battle (@jessica.battle), a creator based in Virginia, posted a TikTok recounting her experience getting new tires ahead of a state inspection. The video has garnered over 2,300 views since it was posted. Battle explains that she made an 8am appointment at her local Discount Tire, knowing her tires were past their prime. “I know my tires were bald. I’m not even gonna act like they weren’t,” she says in the TikTok. “So I was like, let me just get my baby four new tires.” When she arrived just after 8am, she was greeted by a crowd. “Why were there about 12 people already in the door?” she says. “The line is basically out the door. I look at the door and it said, you know, they open at eight. So I’m just like, dang.” She remembers getting a text notification asking her to check in digitally. “I was standing in line. I was like, let me just do this just in case,” she says. “And then lo and behold, like, I would say like two minutes later, someone’s like, ‘Is there a Jessica here?’ I was like, ‘Hi, right here.’” The staff pulled her out of the queue and got started on her paperwork immediately. “So make sure you make an appointment,” she says. What Happens If You Order The Wrong Tires? Battle admits she had accidentally ordered the wrong tires online. But the shop had compatible replacements in stock, and the swap went ahead without a hitch. She had come prepared for the long haul—laptop fully charged, phone ready, coffee and water bottle in hand. “I’m ready to sit there for two hours minimum,” she says. Instead, a worker called her over almost immediately. “He was like handing me my keys,” she says. “I was like, ‘Oh, it’s done?’ He was like, ‘Yes, ma’am, we’re done.’ I was like, ‘That was fast.’ I was shook.” According to the timeline she offers in the video, she strolled in around 8:03, got pulled from the line at around 8:30, and was in her car driving away before 9am. The actual tire work took roughly 15 to 20 minutes. “You’re telling me y’all did that jank in like 20 minutes? What? Oh, four tires. Oh my goodness. I was shook. I was floored,” she says. “I didn’t even really have to drink my coffee because now I can go to sleep,” she adds. How Does Discount Tire Move That Fast? Discount Tire, which operates more than 1,100 locations across the US, has a business model focused on tires and wheels. That specialization allows shops to keep streamlined workflows and dedicated equipment, and that has attracted the attention of the business press. Commenter The Arabian Knight, who said they had used the chain across multiple states, confirmed the efficiency. “They usually have two guys working a car at a time and they get the cars in and out. I’ve yet to have a bad experience with them. They definitely have perfected the tire aspect of vehicle maintenance,” they said. Commenter ddtucka vouched for the chain’s West Coast counterpart, America’s Tire, writing that they got two tires replaced and a free alignment adjustment, posting, “They didn’t charge for the alignment saying it was just a minor adjustment. Yes!! Customer for life!!” Thomas Lindsay offered a practical tip for anyone looking to skip the morning rush. “Here’s a secret—go to a less populated city such as Racine or Kenosha, WI. Appointment really not needed, whereas Chicagoland and Waukesha, WI are always crowded,” he wrote. Trucker Cliff had some fun with Battle’s amazement, writing, “You’ve never seen a NASCAR race? They changed all four of them tires [in] under a minute. Did you get an alignment?” When another commenter pointed out that NASCAR tires are pre-mounted on wheels and not road-balanced, Cliff replied, “I know that! What I meant was it doesn’t take long to change four tires with the right tools.” Battle herself jumped into the comments, replying to one fan of the chain, “They’re incredible! They just gained another customer.” A Practical Takeaway Battle’s digital check-in allowed her to skip a line that was already a dozen deep before the doors opened. And for Discount Tire specifically, the chain’s narrow focus on tires and wheels means its shops are built to turn cars around quickly even on a packed morning. If you don’t book, you might be looking at up to two and half hours, according to customer forums, so it is worth getting online. “The service was just immaculate,” Battle says. “They were so nice, despite them having a line out the door at 8am already.” Motor1 reached out to Battle via Instagram direct message for additional comment.
