A Buc-ee’s customer in Kentucky noticed that the refill price was higher than the drink's original price. She doesn’t think this is a good deal compared to other gas station chains. TikTok creator Char (@char47638) posted a video about her realization on Monday. "I thought I was just so sold-out on Buc-ee's," she says. "Their prices are $1.09 for an extra large cup, $0.99 for a medium cup, and $0.89 [for a small]." She continues, "But, if you bring in your own to get a refill, even if it is whatever these are here, including water, you have to pay $1.99. But, if you go to Speedway, or Circle K, or Shell, and you want to get a refill of water, or coffee, or anything else, they have a refill price. Usually water is free." In the caption, Char wrote, "Buc-ee's 2.0. Find out how much refills are with your own cup, surprise over double of a cost of a regular cup if you buy one with their cups." Viewers React to the Buc-ee's Refill Price Revelation It appears that the refill price recently went up to $1.99. In the comments section, viewers gently corrected Char on the fine print of Buc-ee's drink pricing. One person posted a meme that reads, "This is Karen. She’d like to speak to the manager." A second person suggested, "Just buy the size you want and pour it into your container." Others pointed out that Buc-ee’s locations generally allow customers to refill clean cups of virtually any size—not just the cups for sale at the soda fountain. Of course, as one influencer found out, employees are watching to ensure that health and safety rules are followed. "There is no size limit," wrote one viewer. "So you could theoretically bring in a 2-gallon Stanley and it would only be $1.99." Another person said, "Smart company. You can’t get a drink for that price with their cup anywhere. Bring in your own cup and you won’t promote their name, so you pay more. Marketing is spot on." How Do Buc-ee’s Soda Prices Compare with Other Gas Stations? Prices vary by location and franchise, but some Circle K members pay $0.79 for any size soft drink up to 44 ounces. In 2022, the Krazy Coupon Lady posted an article about one of the brand’s drink subscription promotions. At the time, medium 20-ounce cups and large 30-ounce cups cost $0.99 without a membership, and extra-large 42-ounce cups cost $1.09. The brand also sells a refillable, 44-ounce mug that costs about $1.50 to refill. QuikTrip’s prices also vary by location, but generally, a small cup costs about $1.49; a medium cup, $1.79; and a large cup, up to $1.99. Extra-large cups are $2.29, and refills cost $1.29.
