Image: Green SMInitially, Green SM is offering its ride-hailing service in the national capital, Delhi, as well as Gurugram and Noida, both part of the National Capital Region (NCR). The company says it will expand to more locations in a phased manner. According to a report from the Indian Express, it has deployed approximately 1,000 units of the Green SM Limo and plans to expand the fleet to 10,000 EVs as it scales up operations.As a seven-seat mid-size MPV, the Green SM Limo is relatively large for the congestion and narrow streets of some parts of the Delhi-NCR region. It also would not offer the same cost advantage as smaller taxis, such as the VF 5-derived Herio Green. In an interaction with Autocar Professional, Green SM India COO Manoj Ravikanti said that the company is willing to expand into lower-priced segments at a later stage.Green SM equips all its electric taxis with interior and exterior cameras and emergency support buttons for safety and security, and includes basic amenities such as water bottles and wet tissues. The Green SM Limo features two air-conditioning vents and USB Type-C ports in the second row for added comfort and convenience.The Vingroup-backed company expects about 33 per cent of total rides in India to come from airport transfers, 18 to 20 per cent from corporate clients, and the remaining share from individual customers. As part of the launch celebrations, Green SM is running a promotion offering a 50 per cent discount, capped at 250 rupees (€2.26), valid until 11 June and exclusive to app bookings.Commenting on Green SM’s entry into India, GSM Global CEO Nguyen Van Thanh said: “India is one of the most important mobility markets in the world.
