Image: VolkswagenVolkswagen Commercial Vehicles has launched a new campaign targeting both private and commercial customers. The discounts apply to vehicles registered for the first time by 31 December 2026.Private customers can receive reductions of up to 6,000 euros on the Volkswagen ID. Buzz and up to 6,700 euros on the Volkswagen e-Caravelle. In addition, private buyers may be eligible for the federal government’s electric vehicle subsidy, which can be combined with the VW discount. However, as this subsidy is linked to income brackets, it remains unclear whether eligible households will take up these offers. The ID. Buzz Cargo, with discounts of up to 6,600 euros, is primarily aimed at business customers. From the T7 series, the e-Transporter Kombi qualifies for up to 5,800 euros off, while the e-Transporter panel van and flatbed variants receive discounts of up to 10,000 euros.Under the slogan ‘Big discounts need space,’ the reductions apply to ‘available new vehicles without registration from the manufacturer’s stock.’ It means the discounts do not apply to individually configured new vehicles. The choice of payment method – whether cash purchase, leasing or financing – does not affect eligibility. As the Volkswagen ID. Buzz has recently switched from the 2026 to the 2027 model year in ordering systems, the campaign is likely aimed at clearing remaining 2026 inventory. This is also reflected in the exclusion of bulk buyers and special customers, who typically order larger volumes. The Volkswagen ID. Buzz is an electric van based on MEB platform. As this platform was primarily developed for battery-electric passenger cars, the model’s driving characteristics and equipment levels are closer to those of an SUV than a traditional light commercial vehicle. However, the van, which is built at Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles’s Hanover plant, does not match the space efficiency and payload of a purpose-built commercial vehicle – even in its Cargo variant. To cover this gap, VWCV offers the Volkswagen e-Transporter in cooperation with Ford Motor Company. The model supports a payload of up to one tonne and is produced by Ford Otosan in Turkey, based on the Ford E-Transit Custom. As a result, the VWCV variant has also benefited from Ford’s recent battery upgrade. However, even in its short-wheelbase version, the ID. Buzz offers a larger battery and greater range than the e-Transporter.volkswagen-nutzfahrzeuge.de (in German)
