It boasts the world’s highest engine thermal efficiency of 48.41% and achieved a Guinness World Record for a fuel consumption of 2.22 liters per 100 km during real-world testing. The Geely Emgrand i-HEV stands on the petrol variant of the fifth-gen Emgrand. It stands on the BMA Evo modular architecture. The Emgrand i-HEV adopts a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated engine with a peak power output of 82 kW (110 hp). It is paired with an “11 in 1” electric drive with an integrated DHT transmission and an e-motor for 140 kW (188 hp). Geely Emgrand i-HEV sedan The Geely Emgrand i-HEV adopts the brand’s latest design language with sharp headlights and a large grille. Its other features include traditional door handles, a sleek roofline, and 17-inch wheels. Dimensions of the Emgrand i-HEV are 4815/1885/1480 mm with a wheelbase of 2,755 mm. The interior of this sedan adopts a 14.6-inch touchscreen, a 10.2-inch LCD instrument cluster, and a four-spoke steering wheel with a flat bottom. There is a block of physical buttons under the screen. The center tunnel adopts two wireless phone charging pads, two cup holders, and a retractable gear shifter. Its front seat supports power adjustment. The second row has an integrated middle headrest and an armrest. Another feature is a sound system for six speakers. Interior of the Geely Emgrand i-HEV sedan The top-trim Geely Emgrand i-HEV sedan adopts the L2 assisted driving system with the Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Autonomous Emergency Braking (AE), Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), etc. All trim levels of the Emgrand i-HEV come standard with driver’s and front passenger’s frontal and side airbags, as well as full-length side curtain airbags. As mentioned, the Geely Emgrand previously set a Guinness World Record for 2.22 liters per 100 km on a Hainan highway. A similar record was previously set by the Toyota Prius. Its fuel consumption was 2.53 liters per 100 km. So, the Emgrand i-HEV has 12.26% lower fuel consumption than the Prius. It is worth noting that the Chinese sedan’s claimed fuel consumption is 3.83 liters per 100 km. It is worth noting that the Emgrand i-HEV could not be charged with a plug. There is also a plug-in hybrid variant of this sedan called the Geely Galaxy Starshine 6. Its sales reached 2,708 cars in the same period. We would like to highlight that the Geely Galaxy Starshine 6 is considered to enter the Australian market in 2027 under the Geely Emgrand EM-i name. There is a chance the Emgrand i-HEV will also enter overseas markets.
