Gasgoo Daily presents a selection of the latest developments from China's automotive industry. Here are the key stories in this edition.
CATL, SERES Deepen Strategic Partnership
On October 10, 2026, CATL and SERES Group signed a long-term strategic cooperation agreement in Chongqing.
All AITO-branded vehicles have been equipped with CATL batteries since the brand's launch, with cumulative deliveries exceeding 1.2 million vehicles.
The two companies will continue their full-range battery partnership and deepen cooperation in three areas:
Production capacity: Accelerate Phase II construction of the battery plant within SERES' super factory, with planned annual capacity of 10–12 GWh. Combined annual capacity for Phases I and II will exceed 20 GWh once completed.
Charging services: Cooperate on fast-charging networks and battery services to build a full-lifecycle service system.
Global expansion: Jointly explore overseas markets in Europe, the Middle East and Central Asia.
Geely Galaxy ZJ700 Hits Market
On October 10, 2026, Geely officially launched the Galaxy ZJ700, its first AI-powered all-terrain SUV, offering six variants.
Built on Geely's GTA new-energy off-road architecture, the SUV combines advanced driver assistance, off-road capability and premium comfort.
Its Qiankun H7 driver-assistance system uses a Thor-U chip delivering 700 TOPS of computing power. The sensor suite includes a 192-line LiDAR, three millimeter-wave radars, 11 high-definition cameras, 12 ultrasonic radars and two wading radars.
The vehicle supports highway and urban Navigation on Autopilot (NOA), point-to-point parking navigation and multi-scenario automated parking assistance.
Power comes from Geely's Leishen EM-T off-road hybrid system, combining a 2.0TD off-road hybrid engine with electric motors.
Key performance figures include:
Combined power: 830 kW
Battery capacity: 47.14 kWh
Pure electric range: 305 km
Combined range: 1,770 km
Fast charging: 10% to 80% in 10 minutes, with 6C charging support
Wading depth: 800 mm
Additional off-road features include mechanical differential locks and dual-chamber closed air suspension with CCD continuously variable damping. The SUV also supports a minimum turning radius of 3.36 meters and a "Waltz Turn" maneuver.
GEENER, Wolfspeed Ink Deal
Wolfspeed and GEENER recently signed a memorandum of understanding in Hangzhou to cooperate on silicon carbide (SiC) power modules.
GEENER will prioritize Wolfspeed's SiC bare dies for integration into its next-generation power module platform, initially targeting applications such as main inverters for new-energy vehicles.
Wolfspeed will leverage its established 200 mm SiC production lines to develop bare dies that meet or exceed GEENER's performance requirements, while providing stable supply and commercial support.
The two companies will jointly engage with leading Chinese automakers on high-voltage electric vehicle platforms, aiming to secure vehicle design wins.
The partnership combines Wolfspeed's SiC chip technology and manufacturing capacity with GEENER's expertise in module design, packaging and reliability validation.
Beyond electric vehicles, the companies also see potential applications in AI data centers, where reliable power modules and stable supply are increasingly important.
