Gasgoo Munich-Freetech has secured a supplier contract for DiDi's autonomous driving project, Gasgoo reported on July 8. Paired with deeply integrated proprietary software and AI algorithms, the sensor offers extended detection range and high angular resolution — along with the ability to resolve elevation targets. That translates into significantly sharper perception in complex urban traffic, over low-lying obstacles, and through severe weather like heavy rain or dense fog.Freetech has built a radar portfolio spanning diverse use cases. Beyond the newly contracted sensor, the company's 8T8R edge-architecture 4D imaging radar — the FVR60_EO, a global debut — boasts a maximum detection range of 350 meters and industry-leading angular resolution, acting as a "high-definition night-vision eye" for vehicles. Meanwhile, the FVR60_SO and FVR60_SD satellite radars, which feature an innovative split architecture, are approaching critical R&D and mass-production phases. By offloading algorithms to the domain controller, this design cuts system costs while enabling over-the-air updates — striking a balance between the high performance and cost efficiency demanded by advanced driver-assistance systems.As China's mandatory safety standards for L3 and L4 intelligent connected vehicles move toward final approval, the domestic autonomous driving sector is entering a new phase defined by stringent safety constraints and scaled commercialization. Freetech plans to lean on its full-stack capabilities and mass-production track record, working closely with partners to accelerate the rollout of higher-level autonomous driving.
