Ford Motor Co., the American automaker known for its trucks and SUVs, has issued recalls for more than 8,500 vehicles — including many made at its two Kentucky plants. The manufacturer of America's best-selling truck has two assembly plants in the metro and is one of the state's largest employers, with some 11,000 employees between its Ford Kentucky Truck Plant and the smaller Louisville Assembly Plant, which is currently being retooled as part of a $2 billion investment to start production of an all-new four-door midsize truck EV, ready for drivers by 2027, The Courier Journal previously reported.A 2023 Ford Super Duty F-250 Tremor Off-Road Package. In Louisville, Ford produces its marquee Super Duty trucks, Ford Expedition, and Lincoln Navigator at the Kentucky Truck Plant off Chamberlain Lane where, in 2025, Ford launched the all-new 2025 Ford Expedition and the luxury Lincoln Navigator. Until the end of 2025, the Louisville Assembly Plant son Fern Valley Road produced the Ford Escape and Lincoln Corsair, but both of those vehicle's lifecycles ended. Ford posted 153 recalls in 2025, which accounted for 35% of recalls from the top 12 manufacturers that year, according to data from the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration. Chrysler was the runner up with 53 recalls in 2025. Here's what we know about the newest Ford recalls hitting vehicles manufactured in Kentucky: List of Ford vehicle recalls issued in December 2025 Right Rear Axle Shaft May Fail Vehicle models impacted: Certain 2026 Super Duty F-250 and F-350 vehicles Number of vehicles potentially affected: 6,819 This recall impacts trucks where the right rear axle shaft may have been improperly heat-treated, which could lead it breaking. If this part breaks, it can cause a loss of drive power or vehicle rollaway while the vehicle is parked — both of which could increase the risk of crash. To remedy this recall, dealers will inspect the right rear axle shaft and replace it as necessary for free. Owner notification letters were expected to be mailed to drivers Jan. 5. Seat Belt Retractors Not Secured Properly Vehicle models impacted: Certain 2025-2026 Corsair and Escape vehicles. Number of vehicles potentially affected: 780 This recall is due to the fact that the seat belt retractors on the left and right rear passenger seats may not fasten securely. This means passengers may not be properly restrained which could lead to an increased risk of injury in the event of a crash. To remedy this recall, dealers will inspect and secure or replace the seat belt retractors bolts as necessary for free. Owner notification letters were mailed Dec. 26. Software Error May Cause Loss of Drive Power Vehicle models impacted: Certain 2020 Escape Hybrid vehicles. This recall also impacts certain 2022-2024 Maverick Hybrid vehicles, which are not made in Kentucky. Number of vehicles potentially affected: 87 This recall deals with hybrid powertrain control software that may cause the vehicle to unexpectedly shift into neutral which could lead to a loss of drive power and increases the risk of crash. To remedy this recall dealers will update the necessary software for free. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed Jan. 30. Out of Park Warning Message and Chime too Short Vehicle models impacted: Certain 2019 Expedition vehicles previously repaired incorrectly. Number of vehicles potentially affected: 890 This recall is for vehicles previously repaired incorrectly. The "Transmission Not in Park" warning and its associated chime are shorter than intended. If a driver exits the vehicle without the transmission shifted into park, the vehicle may unintentionally move, which could increase the risk of an injury or crash. To remedy this recall, dealers will update the instrument cluster panel software for free. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed Jan. 30. What can I do if my Ford vehicle has a recall?
