Gasgoo Munich- On May 20, D-Robotics and Spirit AI announced a strategic partnership focused on accelerating the commercialization of embodied artificial intelligence technologies. The collaboration combines Spirit AI's embodied foundation model capabilities and real-world deployment expertise with D-Robotics' high-performance edge AI computing technologies. The two companies said they have completed deep integration and optimization between Spirit AI's open-source embodied model, Spirit v1.5, and D-Robotics' RDK S600 computing platform, creating an integrated hardware-software solution designed for scalable commercial deployment.Image source: Spirit AISpirit AI said its self-developed Spirit v1.5 is China's first open-source vision-language-action (VLA) foundation model to outperform the internationally recognized Pi0.5 benchmark in overall performance.Built on a unified VLA architecture, the model integrates visual perception, language understanding, and motion generation into a single framework. According to the company, the system is capable of handling complex real-world tasks with strong environmental adaptability and long-duration operational stability, making it suitable for industrial assembly, precision manipulation, logistics handling, and other demanding scenarios. The companies highlighted the model's ability to execute a range of sophisticated tasks requiring fine motor control and adaptive reasoning. Demonstrations include delicate object delivery, precision assembly-style operations, and sustained tabletop organization tasks involving irregular objects and random disturbances.Spirit v1.5 also reportedly demonstrates strong generalization capabilities in unfamiliar environments. Its diversified pre-training strategy enables stable task execution across different operating conditions, from factory production lines to household settings. At the hardware level, D-Robotics' RDK S600 serves as the flagship computing platform for embodied AI applications. The chip delivers 560 TOPS (INT8) of AI computing power and adopts a multi-core heterogeneous architecture optimized for large-scale VLA models. The companies said joint optimization work has already enabled stable end-to-end inference of the Spirit v1.5 model on the RDK S600 platform, with runtime efficiency ranking among the leading solutions currently available in the market segment.Moving forward, the two companies plan to continue improving inference efficiency and system-level optimization in order to deliver lower-latency, higher-stability embodied AI deployment solutions for edge-side applications. The collaboration is intended to reduce the commercialization barriers associated with deploying embodied AI systems in real-world robotic hardware.Spirit AI said it has accumulated extensive real-world operational datasets spanning industrial manufacturing, retail, and commercial service sectors. The company believes this data foundation helps address model adaptation challenges in complex industrial environments and extreme operating conditions. The company has also worked with major enterprise clients including CATL, JD.com, Huawei, and Bosch, building up engineering deployment experience and standardized implementation capabilities across multiple industries.D-Robotics said the RDK S600 platform has been designed with industrial-grade reliability and broad compatibility for large AI models, allowing customized adaptation across different robotic platforms and production workflows.Following the latest integration milestone, the companies plan to accelerate real-machine testing and engineering deployment of Spirit v1.5, initially focusing on manufacturing, retail, and commercial service applications.Looking ahead, D-Robotics and Spirit AI said they will continue deepening technical collaboration and jointly developing industry-specific application scenarios. The companies aim to shorten deployment cycles, lower implementation costs, and accelerate the large-scale commercial adoption of embodied AI technologies across multiple sectors.
