From there you look down — way down — as your eyes gravitate to the heavily bolstered competition sport bucket seats that seemingly scrape the pavement. As you absorb this fully immersive visual experience, microfiber suede inserts, fine yellow stitching and forged aluminum pedals come into focus. And all of these elements come together in Wards 10 Best Interiors & UX award-winning fashion. Then you press the start button, instantly lighting off a rifling, menacing, 5,000-rpm rip. The flat-plane crank V-8 then settles into an anxious, 1,000-plus rpm idle. At that point, the interior magically encloses around you, creating a visceral bond. The outside world goes quiet. You live in the moment.AdvertisementAdvertisementIt’s worth mentioning here that Chevrolet includes a nice, 14-speaker Bose sound system in the ZR1X. While lovely, it’s the engine that provides the real music.Interior with purposeWhy even mention the engine for an interior and user experience award? Because this interior perfectly matches the needs of such a powerful machine. One deserves the other. And the combination of the two enhances the vehicle as a whole.“The seats fit the driver and passenger like a glove,” veteran 10 Best judge Drew Winter pointed out. “And the controls are easily accessible and inspire the confidence a driver needs with a 1,250-hp powertrain.”Three screens and a head-up display take center stage for the driver inside the 2026 Corvette ZR1X.Robin Warner/WardsAuto The ZR1X benefits from a major interior update that all Corvette models received for 2026. Three screens sit prominently atop the dash, starting with a 6.6-inch auxiliary cluster to the left of the steering wheel, next to a 14-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.7-inch center display. You get a head-up display, too.AdvertisementAdvertisementChevrolet also replaced the long column of buttons that ran from the dash down to the back of the center console with a more traditional, tidier space. Doing so left room for a wireless smartphone charger and easily accessible cupholders with the Corvette logo printed on the metal base. Nice touch.Metal, leather and carbon fiber adorn all aspects of the ZR1X interior.Robin Warner/WardsAuto The ZR1X then elevates it all with a slew of metal, leather and — most noticeably — carbon fiber. You see it as a hood over the digital instrument cluster and a major component of the heated steering wheel (even including carbon-fiber paddle shifters), as well as the backbone of the bucket seats. The high-tech material also appears on the door trim, door sill and center console.Yet, there’s more.“I love all the leather, yellow stitching and carbon fiber,” 10 Best judge Bob Gritzinger noted, “but what really wins me over are the gauges that pop up in the center screen, providing all manner of information on the hybrid’s function, all right there and easily observable.”AdvertisementAdvertisementFor good measure, Chevrolet includes comforts such as heated and ventilated seats and a heated steering wheel. We also get individual switches just beneath the center display for the dual-zone climate control system and a lovely volume knob for the sound system.Neat tricksFor such a track-worthy machine, it’s fitting the ZR1X gets a built-in performance data recorder to measure your prowess on the track. It offers data analysis, speed-trace analysis, side-by-side video playback and even speed tips, all through the center display. That video playback comes courtesy of multiple cameras mounted on the ZR1X. They perform double duty to help you keep track of what’s immediately around the car and protect all the carbon fiber mounted on the outside of the ZR1X.It’s flip-of-a-switch easy to raise front axle of the ZR1X.Drew Winter/WardsAuto And if you see a bump that looks too large to avoid, Chevrolet added a front-axle lift system to the car to help keep everything scrape-free.AdvertisementAdvertisement“Chevy engineers came up with a brilliant hydraulic front-end lift system,” Winter explains. “It raises the front of the car up to two inches to prevent the carbon fiber splitter up front from scraping speed bumps and other obstacles. The system integrates with the onboard GPS to store up to 1,000 locations. It will automatically activate and raise the car when it approaches the stored obstacles.” Enhance the experienceChevrolet built into the Corvette ZR1X an interior that indeed enhances the overall character of the car. Every aspect of the ZR1X clearly speaks in one voice, clear in purpose.10 Best judge Dave Zoia summed it up best: “From its ultra-supportive racing-style seats to its polished aluminum accents and eye-popping carbon fiber, the ZR1X delivers spectacularly on its promise. Mixed in is a more-than-competent infotainment system that is easy to operate and doesn’t get in the way with the ZR1X’s mission as a one-of-a-kind driving machine.”“If you’re looking for a definition of on-brand, this is it; the ZR1X delivers what it promises to buyers in spades.”Recommended Reading2026 Wards 10 Best Interiors & UX Winners: OEMs look to redefine the in-cabin experience',
