Jared Rosenholtz/CarBuzz/ValnetBMW has fully taken ownership of Alpina, and later this year, the marque will relaunch as a subbrand with a new logo alongside Mini, Rolls-Royce, and M. Before that happens, Alpina has one final model to reveal to close the final chapter of the Buchloe era before Munich fully takes over. The 2026 BMW Alpina XB7 Manufaktur makes its debut at the Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance in Florida, an homage to the XB7 being the first Alpina model being completed outside of Germany at Platn Spartanburg in South Carolina. The XB7 has been in production since 2020, and last year, one example had the honor of being the plant's seven millionth vehicle produced. This Manufaktur edition, not to be confused with the bespoke paint and upholstery program from Mercedes-Benz by the same name, will be limited to only 120 units for the United States and Canada, receiving special touches not found on any other XB7. Production begins in September 2026 with deliveries commencing in Q4. Manufaktur Touches Jared Rosenholtz/CarBuzz/Valnet "Manufaktur" simply means "manufacture" in German, likely a nod to the XB7's special hand-crafted nature. Within Plant Spartanburg, there is a small skunkworks called the Special Vehicles Ops (SVO), and this is the only team allowed to assemble the Alpina XB7. The XB7 Manufaktur goes even further with two exclusive paint colors: Frozen Alpina Green and Frozen Alpina Blue. Both colors should look epic paired with the iconic 23-inc Alpina forged 20-spoke wheels. All 120 cars receive a "XB7 Manufaktur" badge at the back, a black Alpina decal along the side, and a laser-etched "Manufaktur" logo on the B-pillar.Inside, customers are locked into a Tartufo Full Merino leather interior with Walnut Nature Black trim, which is fine because the brown leather is easily the best option for an Alpina vehicle. The front headrests are embroidered with the Alpina script in green and blue, and there is a numbered plaque denoting the vehicle as "1 of 120" on the console lid, both special Manufaktur touches. Owners receive black floor mats with silver Alpina emblems, a trunk mat with a Manufaktur logo, and two handmade Alpina weekender bags made from brown Lavalina leather with matching green and blue leather. More Comfortable Speed Jared Rosenholtz/CarBuzz/Valnet Like an X5 M, the Alpina XB7 is powered by a 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged S68 V8 engine. Alpina tunes it to deliver 631 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque, which is actually 14 hp and 37 lb-ft more than you get from the M. Paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and xDrive all-wheel-drive, the XB7 hits 60 mph in 3.9 seconds, a tad slower than the X5 M. The Alpina can go faster if given enough of a straight road, 180 mph compared to 177 mph.If you've ever driven an XB7, it's noticeably different from an X5 M. The two-axle air suspension features Alpina-specific tuning, which is far more comfortable on the road. It can raise or lower itself by up to 3.2 inches and uses active roll stabilization with electromechanical anti-roll bars to keep itself flat in corners. Rear axle steering helps it maneuver in tight spaces, and keep high-speed stability.Pricing for the 2026 XB7 Manufaktur starts at $180,000 plus $1,550 for destination and handling. That's a steep premium over the standard XB7's $156,000 starting price, but when you include the exclusive colors, upgraded leather, standard Bowers & Wilkins audio and rear captain's chairs, it would cost at least $167,800 to equip one in a similar way. This will likely be your last chance to get an Alpina like this before we see what's next from the company under full BMW control.2026 BMW Alpina XB7 Manufaktur
