BMW’s recently acquired Alpina division has shared a subtle upgrade to its quad exhaust pipes. In doing so, BMW may also have given us our first subtle look at the hotly anticipated return of the Alpina B7 limousine. Teaser Image Confirms Next Alpina Will Get Revised Quad-Exhausts The above teaser image posted to the official BMW-Alpina Instagram account shows two elliptical, dual-sided exhaust pipes, seemingly confirming that Alpina’s traditional quad-exhausts will be retained on the first models developed under the BMW Group umbrella. Moreover, the post also highlights a very subtle redesign for 2026 and beyond, as the exhaust tips sit within a sculpted exhaust finisher. Though unstated, this nested design could prove pivotal to the “charismatic sound” hinted at by the post’s caption.A further description on the Instagram post – “an enduring symbol for the discerning few” – seemingly confirms that the luxury Alpina brand will sit between BMW and Rolls-Royce in the Group’s pecking order as a direct rival to the growing Mercedes-Maybach range.BMWFew details have been provided, however, with only this subtle redesign and a new logo the only clues to BMW-Alpina’s first official model. The German tuner, established by Burkard Bovensiepen in 1965 and a BMW specialist for almost as long, was bought out by the German brand in 2022. Having launched its last-ever independent model at the Amelia Concours d’Elegance earlier this month, Alpina will now operate as a luxurious alternative to BMW’s M division from 2026 onward. How BMW May Have Subtly Confirmed A New B7 Is Coming BMWWhile details are sketchy, online speculation is rampant that the above Instagram post may also, very subtly have teased the imminent arrival of a brand-new B7. BMW, after all, has previously stated that the range-topping B7, the last generation of which was discontinued for 2022, would be among the first BMW-Alpina products to be launched. While no confirmed plans have been announced, the facelifted G70-generation 7 Series on which the new B7 will likely be based will debut at next month’s Beijing Auto Show. With Mercedes having also unveiled its new Maybach S-Class this week ahead of a 2027 launch, BMW-Alpina’s post is certainly a timely one.Again though, aside from the rumored ‘G72’ internal code the new B7 is believed to carry, BMW is mum on production details. Indeed, hopes that the “refined performance” and “charismatic sound” emanating from those new exhausts is derived from a sonorous V12 seem wide of the mark, as the 12-cylinder engine is now the exclusive domain of Rolls-Royce.BMWInstead, a new B7 will likely be powered by the same, albeit more powerful, 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 in BMW’s current 760i 7 Series, or, in an abrupt left turn, the 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six at the heart of the smaller 740i. Moreover, it’s not completely out of the question that an all-electric B7, based on the i7 EV limousine, might be introduced to further bolster BMW’s all-electric range.Source: BMW-Alpina
