A 62-Mile Gordon Murray T.50 Is Heading to Auction With a $6 Million EstimateMotorBiscuitSaajan JogiaTue, September 15, 2026 at 11:30 AM UTCAdd us on GoogleThe Gordon Murray Automotive T.50 is already regarded as one of the most important driver-focused supercars of the modern era, and an exceptionally low-mileage example is now heading to auction through RM Sotheby's.Listed as part of the auction house's Sealed September sale, chassis number 047 is the 47th of only 100 T.50s produced. The 2024-built car has covered just 62 miles from new and has never been officially registered. RM Sotheby's estimates that it could sell for between £4.2 million and £4.6 million, equivalent to roughly $5.5 million to $6 million. What makes this particular T.50 even more interesting is its highly individual specification. The car wears Harrier paintwork over a Luffield Tan leather interior complemented by charcoal Alcantara. Its exterior paint has also been protected with satin paint protection film, giving the supercar a distinctive matte-like appearance. Satin carbon-fiber elements are used throughout the body, while the rear-view cameras, window trim, and airbox feature gloss carbon finishes.Image Credit: RM Sotheby'sAdvertisementAdvertisementThe T.50 was conceived around a philosophy that prioritizes low weight and driver involvement rather than chasing headline power figures. It weighs just 997 kilograms, despite offering the performance expected from a modern exotic. Its compact footprint is comparable to that of a contemporary Porsche Boxster.Power comes from a naturally aspirated 4.0-liter V-12 developed specifically for the T.50 by Cosworth. The engine produces 661 horsepower, weighs only 178 kilograms, and can rev all the way to 12,100 rpm. Power reaches the rear wheels through a six-speed Xtrac manual transmission, while a roof-mounted ram-air intake feeds the engine and a lightweight titanium and Inconel exhaust system handles the spent gases.Another defining feature is the large rear-mounted fan. Drawing inspiration from Gordon Murray's earlier ground-effect work, the system works with the diffuser to improve aerodynamic performance while reducing drag. The fan alone generates 15 kilograms of forward thrust and helps eliminate the need for a conventional large rear wing. The car has remained in professional storage in the UK since leaving Gordon Murray Automotive, with its only mileage coming from factory testing. As a result, RM Sotheby's describes chassis 047 as being in virtually as-new condition.AdvertisementAdvertisementWith its naturally aspirated V-12, manual gearbox, three seats, ultra-low weight, and extreme production rarity, this T.50 represents a remarkably pure interpretation of the modern supercar. Its connection to Gordon Murray's work on the McLaren F1, combined with its near-new condition and just 62 miles, makes chassis 047 a particularly rare opportunity for collectors and enthusiasts.Image Credit: RM Sotheby's
