This micro EV gives away its size with its name; Topolino means “tiny mouse” in Italian. Instant torque makes for quick-enough acceleration around town, though we’ve noted that the Ami’s motor whirs noisily while operating.The quadracycle’s petite dimensions make for a ride that rocks and jostles over uneven pavement, though there’s enough suspension and rubber from the tire to blunt impacts. A slower steering ratio helps protect against sudden movements that could cause the little EV from tipping over.We wager the Topolino is going to be more refined than the average golf cart with a heck of a lot more charisma. A “Rear Carriage” luggage rack accessory can be affixed to the rear of the micro EV to haul a small suitcase. There’s also the “Dolcevita Box,” Fiat’s name for a tubular fabric cargo container that sits underneath the windshield.Fiat offers five other accessories to customize the Topolino: matching luggage for the cargo rack, a USB fan, a Bluetooth speaker, an insulated water bottle, and seat covers that double as towels. The accessories are color matched to the Topolino’s plastic body.TechnologyThe Topolino isn’t meant to have all of the gadgets that we’ve come to expect from mainstream cars, but it does receive a fully digital instrument cluster display as standard equipment. Originally, Fiat equipped a puny 3.5-inch screen when it first unveiled the Topolino, but that display now measures 5.7 inches. The new screen has been redesigned with more legible graphics and fonts.Trims and ConfigurationsWhen the 2027 Fiat Topolino arrives, it will be offered in two trims. The base model has doors, a hardtop, and a sunroof. The top-level Dolcevita trim has a roll-up soft top roof and ropes for doors.
