The Slovenian exhaust giant has just announced the Akrapovič Titanium Footpeg Set, as another entry into their accessories lineup. (More on this later.) Akrapovič is so synonym with high-performance motorcycle exhaust systems so much so that some bikers are starting to refer to any aftermarket exhaust system as “Akrapovič” or simply “Akra”. Motorcycle manufactures have even sought the company to produce stock systems. Additionally, some stock systems mimic the brand’s designs without being true Akrapovič such as the muffler on the Keeway RKR250, among others, for our market. These are cast in Grade 5 titanium, in their own foundry, which also produced the famous pipes. Of course everyone knows that titanium’s attributes are high strength with correspondingly lower weight and zero corrosion. Look closer and you will see that the spikes on these pegs are pyramidical with a Y-shaped structure, instead of being thin triangles on stock pegs. They were designed so to be tough – partly for your money’s worth, of course. It is very obvious that these are designed for the serious ADV rider who needs the grip when riding off-road, although they are sold with the rubber pads. In fact, Akrapovič had tested them in real-world conditions, after all. Truth is, the Akrapovič Footpeg Sets are just part of their entire sojourn into the aftermarket sector as there are also carbon panels, heat shields, and even hardware like crash protection especially for the BMW GS series.
