Zeekr Malaysia will launch three models this year, GM Eddy Lu revealed at the company’s Chinese New Year media gathering yesterday night. As previously reported, one of the models lined up for a 2026 launch is the 9X, which is not only Zeekr’s flagship model, but the current standard bearer for the wider Geely Group. The 9X, which has Rolls-Royce Cullinan vibes (imposing chrome nose aside, I see Range Rover too), is a plug-in hybrid, which means that it’s also the first Zeekr to have an internal combustion engine. The ICE is Geely’s 2.0-litre turbo-four with 279 PS, and it can power the wheels directly in certain circumstances (which means it’s not a REEV). The 9X is an EV most of the time though, one with 1,400 PS (1,030 kW), 1,410 Nm, and a 0-100 km/h time of just 3.1 seconds. Full details and pics here. Note that the 9X will be priced much higher than the 009. The 9X is the Geely Group’s flagship model; expect unprecedented pricing that’s much higher than the 009 Aside from the 9X, Zeekr will also introduce a version of its popular 009 MPV described as ‘luxury redefined’. Will this be the 009 Grand with its four-seat layout to be the new range-topper? Check out the ultimate 009 here – the 009 Grand Collector’s Edition. The 009 was one of Zeekr’s launch models in Malaysia in December 2024. The electric luxury MPV started life here with two variants – Luxury and Ultra Luxury – before an entry-level Executive came along in August 2025. With the model already established, surely there’s appetite for the 009’s equivalent of the Alphard Royal Lounge. Zeekr’s other launch model just over a year ago was the X, which is a SEA platform sibling of the Volvo EX30. We’re guessing that the ‘compact premium SUV refresh’ teased by the company is an updated X. Late last year, China received an updated X that retained the model’s unique sharp styling, but added new features and Geely’s Energee battery to the range. The Zeekr 009 Grand four-seater (top); the Zeekr X is a rare but cool sight (bottom) The latest X gains a 14.6-inch electric sliding smart screen that does its thing on a 353 mm electric rail, allowing it to move horizontally between the driver and passenger. With a gesture, the screen can shift from its traditional position over to the passenger side for the co-pilot to catch up on the latest drama episode, for instance. In China, the X tops out at 480 hp (365 kW) and 573 Nm, which is more than our current AWD model’s 428 PS (315 kW), 543 Nm. 0-100 km/h is done in 3.69 seconds, slightly faster than the 3.8 seconds of the pre-update AWD. The above-mentioned Energee battery is a 61 kWh unit, joined by a 66 kWh CATL ternary lithium battery (NCM). Unlike the 009 and 7X, the somewhat forgotten X and its medley of straight lines remains a rare sight in Malaysia, which makes it perfect for those wanting something compact and different – design wise, it has the wow factor.
