(Image courtesy of Kubota)BOONE, Iowa — Kubota Tractor Corp. has launched WorkSmart Autosteer, a precision guidance system built for compact and utility equipment, extending technology typically used on Kubota large ag tractors to more machines across its broad equipment lineup.It's like an autopilot feature — WorkSmart Autosteer holds the line while the operator stays in command of the operation. Priced at an MSRP of $6,000, the system is compatible with new and used Kubota equipment, is backed by a 2-year limited warranty, and is now available for purchase."Worksmart Autosteer is an in-house system created for Kubota by Kubota," Austin Hawkins, senior manager for technology sales and marketing at Kubota North America, said at Farm Progress Show. "A lot of people have been using autosteer for many years. "We've created a user-friendly system that is a retro fit to Kubota machines."Machine compatibilityWorkSmart Autosteer is compatible with select Kubota tractors, mowers, and RTVs, giving farmers, ranchers, and turf professionals access to precision guidance. The system supports applications including seeding and planting, tillage and cultivation, hay operations, spraying and spreading, mowing, road grading, and orchard and vineyard work."WorkSmart Autosteer isn't about removing the operator from the decision; it's about helping to remove fatigue and error from the equation," said Hawkins. "At your command, the machine holds the line, so you stay sharp, cover more ground and still get home with something left for the people who matter most."The hands-free steering system is engineered for the specific model it's installed on. The unit may be sold, installed, serviced and warranted through a single dealer. "It's very user friendly."Hawkins said WorkSmart Autosteer can be installed in about two hours at authorized Kubota dealers who also provide operator training.Two levels of guidance accuracyWorkSmart Autosteer offers two correction levels:SBAS (WAAS): 6 to 8 inches of repeatable pass-to-pass accuracy, no subscription required.PPP: 1-inch accuracy for specialty crops and precision applications, is available with an annual subscription.Benefits of guidanceRepeatable precision on every pass. Guidance holds the machine to a defined line, so each pass registers against the one before it. This keeps seed, fertilizer, and crop protection products landing where intended.Reduced overlap. By holding the guidance line, the system reduces the pass-to-pass overlap manual steering can leave behind.Experience is not required. WorkSmart Autosteer carries guidance skill in the machine, so the line the system holds is the same line regardless of the level of operator experience.One system works across the entire operation.
