A U-Haul renter was left scratching his head after getting in his rental. That confusion turned to ire after he concluded the vehicle was equipped with a piece of equipment for what seems like absolutely no reason. Facebook user Uncle Ruckus Son posted a video capturing his annoyance with the U-Haul’s mirror. However, some thought he was missing a key aspect of the car’s apparent limited visibility. Why Does A U-Haul Have A Rearview Mirror? "What the hell is the purpose of a rearview mirror in a U-Haul, when you can’t even…ain’t nothing to look back at?" he asks in his clip. Then he demonstrates why he has such a particular grievance about the way the U-Haul truck’s situated: There’s a solid divider behind the driver’s seat. It’s emblazoned with various information labels from the rental truck and storage facility provider. "What was the point?" he asks again in a text overlay. He continues, "They put that in there for nothing." The reason for his grievance is evident: the rearview reflects the divider, an unnecessary and potentially distracting view for drivers. Redditor @FitFaithlessness3262 uploaded two images of their U-Haul’s cabin. The first was that of a rearview mirror while the second, just as Uncle Ruckus posted, was of a divider that featured some information and warning labels plastered on it. Another person offered up an explanation, "You’ll notice that the fronts of U-Haul vehicles look like stock trucks or vans." Continuing, they said that U-Haul will often modify trucks. A second commenter said that their work van is equipped with a rearview mirror that turns into a backup camera whenever you pop the car into reverse. "I drive a windowless Ford van for work. It has a cage as well. It has the mirror because that is also where the backup camera monitor is," they wrote. In a 2019 post on the Bob is the Oil Guy forum, another said they rented a 2019 Chevrolet van with a "backup camera built into the rear view mirror." Others who commented on the post also suggested that the mirror turns into a backup camera. "Bro it’s a camera in the mirror," one wrote. Uncle Ruckus Son replied, "Naa not this one."
