This Tiny 672-Pound Camper Is Back, and Almost Any Car Can Tow ItMen's JournalTudor SerbanFri, September 18, 2026 at 3:04 PM UTCAdd us on GoogleThere are lightweight campers, and then there are campers that make you wonder whether you could tow them with something parked in the compact-car section.Aliner has revived the Alite for 2027 after nearly a decade away, and the tiny A-frame camper weighs just 672 pounds dry. It made its consumer debut at America's Largest RV Show in Hershey, Pennsylvania, where Beckley's RV is displaying the returning model. For perspective, the recently introduced SylvanSport VIRE weighs 3,670 pounds, and we already considered that a lightweight camper. The Alite weighs less than one-fifth as much.An A-Frame Camper Almost Anything Can TowAliner says the 2027 Alite can be towed by "essentially all vehicles," although buyers should obviously check their vehicle's rated towing capacity and remember that 672 pounds is the camper's dry weight. Camping gear, food, water, and everything else you decide you absolutely cannot survive a weekend without will add pounds.AdvertisementAdvertisementPair it with a vehicle rated to tow 2,000 pounds or more, though, and the Alite should feel less like a trailer and more like particularly stubborn luggage. At 672 pounds, it is also light enough that even some EV owners might consider towing it without immediately watching their range estimate have a nervous breakdown. The Alite measures just 11 feet long, making it considerably easier to maneuver and store than a conventional travel trailer. Like other Aliner campers, its hard-sided A-frame roof folds down for towing and can be set up in about 30 seconds once you arrive.Tiny Doesn't Mean Sleeping in a CoffinThe Alite is obviously not trying to compete with something like the Cascade Max tiny home, where you get a full kitchen, king-size bedroom, office space, and enough residential comfort to forget that your house can technically move.AdvertisementAdvertisementInstead, Aliner concentrates on the basics.Despite its compact footprint, the Alite has an 80-inch peak interior height and a 58-by-76-inch sleeping area. Roadside and curbside bench seating provides somewhere to sit before becoming part of the sleeping arrangement, while 2.7 cubic feet of exterior front storage handles some of the camping gear. That makes it primarily a camper for solo travelers or couples who want a solid roof and comfortable place to sleep without dragging thousands of pounds behind them.Aliner also sees first-time RV buyers and weekend travelers as major customers for the resurrected model.View the 2 images of this gallery on the original articleIt Starts at $17,650Beckley's RV currently lists the 2027 Aliner Alite Base at an MSRP of $17,650. Nobody shops for campers by the pound, thankfully, because that works out to roughly $26 per pound.AdvertisementAdvertisementThe price also puts the Alite in a completely different category from increasingly elaborate compact trailers. The 19-foot SylvanSport VIRE, for example, starts at $59,995, although its full kitchen, wet bath, climate control, and available 600-watt solar setup make it far closer to a tiny apartment on wheels.Aliner says the new Alite will reach its nationwide dealer network this winter following its Hershey debut.Nearly a decade after disappearing, one of America's smallest hard-sided campers is back. And in an RV market where bigger often means heavier, more complicated, and considerably more expensive, 672 pounds suddenly sounds refreshingly simple. This story was originally published by Men's Journal on Sep 18, 2026, where it first appeared in the News section.
