The Bafang M560RS might not be as light as the Avinox M2S, but it takes the power and torque to the next level, with a peak power of 1,700 watts and 150 Nm of torque. Much like all other absurdly powerful eMTB motors, the Bafang M560RS has a rated power of 250W, but is capable of much, much more.BafangWhile Bafang might not be a super recognizable name in mountain biking specifically, they are common on commuter and utility e-bikes, with their hub-drive motors being the ones that most are familiar with. They make some ridiculously powerful e-bike motors – you know, the ones on those e-motos that all the kids are riding where they shouldn't be – the ones all over the news. I digress, as those are hub-drive motors and they don't really have an application in the eMTB space. It is the mid-drive motors that we're all used to seeing on eMTBs these days, and the Bafang M560RS looks to be the most powerful mid-drive eMTB motor on the market. It is, however, more than just the power output that matters; weight is a factor that the Bafang cannot match compared to the Avinox M2S. The Bafang weighs 3.3kg (~7.25 lb), whereas the Avinox M2S is just 2.59 kg (~5.7 lb), but the Avinox also has an edge in the batteries it uses to power the motor.BafangAlthough the Bafang M560 is more powerful than anything else on the market, it gets even gnarlier with HPC, which offers a complete bike built around a modified version of this motor capable of 2000 watts and 185 Nm of torque.AdvertisementAdvertisementBafang has also announced the M510RS, with 110 Nm of peak torque (120–130 Nm in boost) and a max power output of 1100W (36V) / 1300W (48V). This seems to be a more "refined" offering from the brand, but it still delivers a crazy amount of power for what is still technically a pedal bike.I won't get into my thoughts on this here, but I certainly have some thoughts on the matter…This story was originally published by BikeMag on Aug 26, 2026, where it first appeared in the News section.
