The 2026 model year Jeep Wagoneer S has been conspicuously absent from Jeep's communications or even its website. With Stellantis dropping all Jeep and Chrysler PHEV models in the US, it was starting to look like the Wagoneer S was also dead as buyers moved away from EVs. However, it's not dead yet. Jeep has confirmed the Wagoneer S will return, and that it will be even better than before. Jeep Just Pining For The Fjords Jared Rosenholtz/CarBuzz/Valnet Jeep's fully-electric Wagoneer S is just taking a bit of a break. The first electric Jeep in the US went on sale for model year 2025, and its sales were never exactly overwhelming. It probably performed better than expected, selling double what the entire Alfa Romeo brand sold in 2025, but it took discounts of nearly $30,000 to help it do so.Killing a model after just one year would be almost unheard of. The cost of selling zero and just scrapping all of that R&D (plus the supplier commitments) would be enormous. But with the calendar now nearing the end of April 2026 and no sign of the Wagoneer S, it seemed like that was exactly what was happening. Now, as Automotive News first reported and CarBuzz has confirmed, the Wagoneer S is coming back. Its supposed to be better than ever for 2027, thanks to some small but important changes.A Stellantis spokesperson told CarBuzz that the 2027 Wagoneer S would get a North American Charging Standard plug. That would give it access to the Tesla Supercharger network, allowing fast-charging at vastly more stations than the 2025 model had access to. According to Jeep, there will also be "future improvements in battery performance, software and capability," though the automaker had no further details to share. Will Jeep Have Two EVs For 2027? Jared Rosenholtz/CarBuzz/Valnet Hopefully, the 2027 model will also come with some more variety. The 2025 was offered in just two trim levels, Limited and Launch Edition, and both were loaded. The Limited started at $66,995, including destination, and the Launch Edition added $5,000 to that. Both were well-equipped, including 294 miles of range and up to 600 horsepower, but at those prices, they were up against EVs from Audi and Mercedes-Benz. When the $7,500 federal EV incentive dried up, sales of the Wagoneer S did as well. While Jeep moved 10,426 units from January through September last year, it has only sold 613 in the six months since then. Sales have likely now completely stopped, as Jeep shows just three units in inventory across the country. When the Wagoneer S returns, it should join another electric Jeep at US dealers. The Jeep Recon, which is like (but not quite) an electric Wrangler, was set to start production early this year. It has been delayed, but is still coming. In February, Jeep CEO Bob Broderdorf said that "if the car wasn’t cool, or I didn’t love it, maybe I would be thinking about [canceling] it. But I can’t wait to get you in a Recon. It’s legit. You’ll like it. It’s fun. I can sell that car, the brand; people love the car. We’re all-in on Recon."That Jeep, with removable doors and a removable top, will have the same starting price as the Wagoneer S. Or at least the same as the old starting price. No word yet on the new one.Source: Jeep
