One of the best restomods out there is the Alfa Romeo–based Totem Automobili GT. Available with either an all-electric powertrain or a bespoke twin-turbocharged 2.8-liter V6, the GT is a thoughtful and undeniably stylish take on the classic Alfa GT and GTV coupes of the 1960s and 1970s – albeit rendered on a more contemporary chassis and with cutting-edge materials. The latest one-off commission from Totem is this GT Electric, dubbed Zeal01, which has one of the prettiest color schemes we've ever seen on any vehicle – including the first two-tone interior the company's ever applied to one of its EV builds.Totem Automobili GT Electric ZEAL01 Exterior 2 With A Peri-Wink And A Smile The coachbuilder worked with Zeal01's new owner on each step of the process, and they decided to drape the car's carbon fiber monocoque with a lustrous coat of Azurro Pervinca, a triple-layer metallic periwinkle paint with a deep finish that seems to change color in the light. The GT Electric also received satin gold brightwork for the grille and headlight frames, window surrounds, door handles, and badging, while Totem's signature carbon fiber weave appears on the ground effects with a satin finish. LED lighting and bronze pepperpot-style wheels round out the exterior, but that's a mere portion of the car's style formula.Totem Automobili / Lorenzo MarzolaInside, the GT Electric gets two-tone upholstery for its Sabelt-designed carbon fiber racing buckets, with tan leather for the bolsters contrasting against blue, tan, and black houndstooth fabric centers. Tan leather with blue stitching also shows up on the door panels, with the color scheme reversed for the hide-trimmed floor covering. The same matte-finished carbon fiber design appears on the dashboard and windowsills, while knurled HVAC vents and instrument gauge rings wear a subued gold finish to match the exterior brightwork – ditto the steering wheel. Fine details abound, including the seats' houndstooth pattern appearing on the undersides of the hood and trunk, plus custom-machined hinges to match. An Engineering Masterpiece Both the GT Electric and GT Super start from donor Alfa Romeos, but only a handful of parts remain from the original by the time the project is done. The suspension layout borrows liberally from the classic, strengthened and updated to handle the Totem's impressive power output – in the case of this EV, that means a 590-horsepower rear axle motor that punts it to 60 miles per hour in 2.9 seconds. A Brembo monobloc braking package keeps the car under control. The lightweight carbon bodywork helps the GT Electric travel around 300 miles per charge.Totem Automobili GT Electric ZEAL01 Exterior 1That reasonable cruising distance makes the Totem Alfa Romeo a pretty enticing road trip car, and it's got just enough cargo space for an adventurous couple thanks to a 5.8-cubic-foot trunk and an additional duffel-sized storage compartment under the forward-tilting hood. Pricing for this gorgeous piece of machinery starts at well over $600,000, and we're not sure how much customization that cash gets you – we bet a Totem GT outfitted like Zeal01 would run at least $700,000 when all is said and done. Whether that's worth the price is between Totem and its owners, but it's hard to deny the appeal of a flawlessly outfitted EV with classic style.Source: Totem Automobili
