The #2 will enter the Chinese market shortly ahead of the global debut with a 2.75-meter body, 60 kW (80 hp), and 300 km of WLTP range. The Smart #2 patent image was shared by the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA). Its dashboard has an LCD instrument panel and a floating touchscreen. Other features include a block of physical buttons under the screen and circular air vents. It also has two wireless phone charging pads and a 12V socket. There is a hook on the glove box cover. The dashboard also adopts a large circular speaker. Interior of the Smart #2. Credit: CNIPA The Smart #2 is a two-seater styled by Mercedes-Benz. It’s positioned as a successor to the Smart ForTwo. The chassis and core technologies of the #2 come from Geely. This small EV stands on the Electric Compact Architecture (ECA). Its dimensions are 2764/1669/1555 mm with a wheelbase of 1,875 mm. For clarity, it is 31 mm shorter and 6 mm narrower than the mentioned ForTwo. Interestingly, it has staggered tires: 165/65 R15 & 185/60 R15 or 185/50 R16 & 205/45 R16. The Smart #2. Credit: MIIT The Smart #2 has a curb weight of 1,130 kg and a gross weight of 1,315 kg. It adopts a permanent magnet TZ160XS00A electric motor with a peak power of 60 kW (80 hp). The car can speed up to 140 km/h. It is powered by an LFP battery with cells supplied by CATL and the total assembly managed by Geely. According to previous reports, the #2 adopts a 35.7 kWh battery for 300 km of range under WLTP conditions. More information about the mass-produced Smart #2 will be disclosed at the Paris Motor Show in October 2026. Meanwhile, this brand kicked off an unusual marketing campaign for this model as murals of the #2 appeared in six cities across the globe, including Shanghai, Hong Kong, Melbourne, Buenos Aires, Berlin, and Paris.
