If You're Shopping for a Rolls-Royce, Start HereRolls-RoyceIt's a common conundrum, one we all face sooner or later: When the time comes to trade in your previous conveyance and purchase a new Rolls-Royce model, be it a Cullinan, Phantom, or Spectre, the age-old question is... where?Last night your troubles got a little easier. Rolls-Royce celebrated the opening of its newest dealership in America—Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Beverly Hills, one of the largest Rolls-Royce showrooms in North America. Why here?Mark VaughnBeverly Hills has historically been one of Rolls-Royce's leading markets for what they call bespoke commissions, and the new location is ready for you in that regard. Go through the Black Badge Lounge—a sort of speakeasy for clients—take the stairs up, and there's a secret chamber where you can select everything for your new commission, from 50 different bolts of leather samples, to contrasting stitching, to just the right kind of wood for your dashboard. You can even program your own starlight ceiling and pick which constellations appear above you in the headliner. Chevy doesn't offer that.Mark Vaughn"Beverly Hills has one of the most extraordinary Rolls-Royce client communities anywhere in the world, and this showroom was designed for them," said owner and principal, Tom O'Gara, also owner of O'Gara Coach, one of the largest dealers of exotic new cars in the world, from Pagani to Koenigsegg. "We wanted to create a place where our clients could come together, spend time with one another, experience the marque, and, most importantly, feel at home."I sure felt at home. You will, too.On the show floor on opening night was a mix of old and new. On one side of the showroom was the famous Round-Door Rolls from the Petersen Automotive Museum just down the street. On the other side was the Spectre Series II, the marque's latest all-electric motor car.Mark VaughnThe opening brought together what Rolls called "beautiful people, the leading figures from entertainment, sports, business, and the collector car community, reflecting the enduring connection between Rolls-Royce and the culture of Beverly Hills and Hollywood," Rolls said."The new Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Beverly Hills brings a piece of Goodwood to Beverly Hills," said Julian Jenkins, director of sales and brand for Rolls-Royce Motor Cars. "This is much more than a showroom. It is a home for Rolls-Royce commissioning, a place where clients can explore their creativity and begin the journey of creating something deeply personal. The relationship between Rolls-Royce and Beverly Hills has always been special. This showroom gives that relationship a new expression—combining the craftsmanship and creativity of Goodwood with the culture, energy, and individuality of Beverly Hills."All you need is $603,000 for the Cullinan in the lounge.Worldwide sales for Rolls-Royce were 5662 last year, down just a bit from the all-time high of 6031 three years ago. The North American market accounts for roughly a third of those sales, and in North America, Beverly Hills may be the biggest seller. Thus, the new showroom is an important next step for the marque."This is not simply a beautiful place to display cars," O'Gara said. "It is a social destination and a commissioning environment that reflects what Rolls-Royce means to our clients."
