Gasgoo Munich- RoboSense released its latest sales figures on April 8, revealing that total lidar shipments hit 330,300 units in the first quarter of 2026 — a 204.1% surge from a year earlier, according to Gasgoo. The robotics business continued its explosive trajectory, with sales soaring 1,458.8% year-on-year to 185,500 units. Accounting for 56.2% of the total, this segment overtook the automotive lidar business for the first time, emerging as the company's primary growth engine.Leveraging a first-mover advantage driven by proprietary chips, RoboSense has secured an early foothold in several rapidly growing niche scenarios. The company topped sales in five key segments—robotic lawn mowing, autonomous delivery, humanoid robotics, embodied intelligence, and commercial cleaning—making it the market leader in lidar shipments for the robotics sector in 2025.Image Credit: RoboSenseLast year, RoboSense sold 303,000 lidars for robotics applications—a staggering 1,141.8% jump. Revenue from the robotics division climbed 257.7% to 709 million yuan, with a gross margin of 39.7%. That profitability significantly outpaced the 19.1% margin seen in its ADAS business. The robotics segment surpassing automotive in the first quarter marks a structural breakthrough in RoboSense’s "ADAS + Robotics" dual-engine strategy.Looking ahead to 2026, RoboSense aims to maintain its dominance and high-speed growth in the broader robotics market, buoyed by its technological and competitive strengths. Notably, the company plans to begin mass production this year of its new "Active Camera" robotics vision category. This move marks a strategic evolution from providing single-category sensors to building a "core perception infrastructure for physical AI."In the automotive sector, RoboSense had secured design wins from 35 automakers covering 168 vehicle models as of March 2026. Building on that, the company expects to release over 2 million units from designated projects this year. It also aims to debut its blind-spot detection products on L2-level vehicles for the first time, opening up yet another application frontier.
