The Omoda C7 has been teased in a reel for the upcoming 2026 Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week, with the latest appearance of the C-segment SUV coming after prior on-road sightings in November and August last year. This was officially previewed in May last year at the Malaysia Autoshow 2025, and the latest showing for the C7 could mean that the model could finally be launched in Malaysia. As its model designation suggests, the C7 is positioned between the Chery O5 and the Omoda C9. The Malaysian preview of the C7 was with the 1.6 litre turbocharged petrol engine, which is also found in its stablemate the Jaecoo J7 where it outputs 197 PS and 290 Nm, paired with a seven-speed wet dual-clutch automatic transmission. Shown at the preview with AWD badging, the C7 could be offered locally with all-wheel-drive and possibly front-wheel-drive. A plug-in hybrid variant also exists, that is the C7 PHEV which made its ASEAN debut at the 2025 Bangkok International Motor Show with a 156 PS/220 Nm hybrid-specific 1.5 litre turbo petrol engine mated with a 204 PS/310 Nm electric motor and a single-speed DHT, yielding combined outputs of 360 PS and 530 Nm. However, it will likely be the ICE powertrain-equipped version that emerges first for Malaysia. In terms of equipment, the cabin of the C7 gets a minimalist dashboard with a pair of freestanding displays, including a 15.6-inch infotainment touchscreen that can slide from the centre to the passenger side. Also featured here are front seats with integrated headrests, an oblong steering wheel, and a sound system with a “12+2” Sony speaker array.
