Well, you're in luck; Morgan has just the car for you, and it's called the Supersport.AdvertisementAdvertisementThe Supersport is making its official USA debut at the Qual, A Motorsports Gathering, during this August's Monterey Car Week. Perfectly appropriate given the car's intended audience and its six-figure price (which starts around $120k USD). Morgan's authorized retailer network will handle sales and service, and they will undoubtedly be on site to take orders and fill the order banks.Morgan says that less than 50 commission slots remain for the 2026 model year, and the first of those buyers can have theirs by September. That's a pretty quick turnaround from a company as small as they are.Source: Morgan Motor CompanySource: Morgan Motor CompanyThe newest Supersport might have an ash wood frame (that is then integrated with bonded aluminum), but its CXV-generation chassis is fully modernized (at least compared to prior Morgans). The company says it's more rigid and refined than ever before, and new suspension and steering make it more engaging as well.AdvertisementAdvertisementBut this car isn't just about the way it looks and feels, it's about building something special. The brand throws around the phrase "21st Century Coachbuilding" which is car-nerd wording for bespoke, and the company even still builds their cars at its Pickersleigh Road production facility-- the same place it has been doing so for over one-hundred years. Buyers will have a full choice of colors, materials, and more to make each Supersport unique (should that be something a Morgan buyer wants, which is likely the case).Source: Morgan Motor CompanySource: Morgan Motor CompanyThe new Supersport joins the Plus Four to help expand Morgan's product lineup in the USA. Still, these are boutique cars from a boutique brand, and you won't see them on every corner anytime soon. But that's good, and helps keep them all the more special. And special these cars certainly are: Just one look at a Supersport, and it's immediately identifiable. Nothing else on the road has the silhouette of a Morgan, and not even the Supersport's carbon composite top-which can be removed completely or swapped for a folding mohair soft top-can dull its style.AdvertisementAdvertisementPerhaps the Supersport's only pitfall is that the sole transmission available is the eight-speed ZF automatic gearbox. Not that it's a bad unit, but a car like this cries for a five- or six-speed manual. Even so, the brand is supremely excited to bring the car to the USA, says Matthew Hole, the company's Managing Director:"Bringing Supersport to the United States marks a significant milestone for Morgan Motor Company. Since its introduction, Supersport has established a new direction for our brand, combining contemporary design, advanced engineering and traditional coachbuilding in a flagship that reflects who we are today. We are delighted that, following an extensive program of homologation, customers across the United States can now experience it for themselves.Source: Morgan Motor CompanySource: Morgan Motor CompanyThe Supersport's trek to the US isn't exactly a traditional one; rather than being sold as normal vehicles are, it gets an exception under the Replica Vehicle legislation established by the FAST Act (Fixing America's Surface Transportation Act). In essence, a whole bunch of legal jargon means that Morgan can sell up to 325 cars stateside annually. It's certified by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), but don't expect it to get crash-tested by the organization anytime soon. The realization that the Supersport is available for sale in the United States is something truly exciting for enthusiasts, or at least those fortunate enough to be able to swing adding one to their garage. The promise these cars offer on a visual and engagement level is strong, and they know it:AdvertisementAdvertisement"Every Morgan should create memorable experiences, stir emotion and deliver pure driving joy. Supersport does exactly that," says Morgan Motor Company's Chief Design Officer, Jonathan Wells. We don't doubt his statement; now, can we get some seat time? Please?Become an AutoGuide insider.
