Marbella just wrapped one of the most Bugatti-heavy weekends in recent memory. According to a press release from the organizers, the 2026 Concurso de Elegancia Costa del Sol, run by CAVËN under the vision of the Piëch family, brought hypercars, coachbuilt one-offs and pre-war classics to the Costa del Sol for four days. When the judging was done, a Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Roadster took home Best of Show.Bugatti Takes Center Stage in MarbellaBugatti served as Main Partner, and it brought a lineup rarely seen together. The F.K.P. Hommage, the one-off tribute to the Veyron, made its first appearance at a concours. The Tourbillon made its first active appearance at an automotive event, including a road trip and a circuit session. Bugatti also showed a Veyron La Finale and eight development prototypes tracing the brand's technical evolution.The most intriguing of those prototypes was a Lamborghini Diablo VT Roadster fitted with a naturally aspirated V16, a secret testbed for an engine layout that never made it into the Veyron. It was shown to the public for the first time. Beyond Bugatti, the field included Koenigsegg, Gordon Murray Automotive, Pagani, Ferrari, Aston Martin, Porsche and Lamborghini, alongside design houses and coachbuilders such as Zagato, Isidera, Bertone and Kimera. Highlights included the Porsche Le Mans Tribute Collection from the Piëch family, the Lamborghini Aventador J, Morgan Midsummer, Zagato Twintail, Spyker C8 Alieron, Porsche 996 GT1 and McLaren P1 chassis number 1. Members came from institutions and events including Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, Hagerty, the Petersen Automotive Museum, Ferrari Classiche, Italdesign and Pininfarina. Designer Fabrizio Giugiaro, Pebble Beach president Vince Finaldi and former Petersen director Ken Gross were among them. Owners took their cars to Ascari Race Resort in Ronda on Friday, October 2, for a track day that included dynamic and acceleration tests in front of the jury. The next stop was Gibraltar Airport, closed exclusively for participants, where owners drove in convoy from Marbella and made individual top-speed runs along a 1.5-kilometer straight. A Bombardier Global 6500 sat on the runway, and a VIP area in the terminal offered a private lounge, catering and a DJ.The weekend closed with a black-tie gala dinner and awards ceremony at a private villa in Marbella. Guests included Bugatti CEO Mate Rimac and creators such as Shmee150, The Stradman and Tom Claeren. Organizers say the event is helping establish the Costa del Sol as a destination for collectible-car culture.
