The 2027 Jeep Wrangler Smoky Mountain is the latest in the brand's "Twelve 4 Twelve program, a series of 12 new special-edition versions of the iconic off-roader, with one launched every month for a full year. This is the 10th installment, and the black-themed special edition celebrates a Jeep enthusiast event called the Smoky Mountain Invasion in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, where the SUV was unveiled.The Wrangler Smoky Mountain edition is based on the Wrangler Willys, the third-lowest trim in the current lineup. The convertible SUV wears 17-inch black wheels and a grille finished in Gloss Black, and although it's painted black here, it will be offered in a variety of colors from Joose orange to Hydro Blue. Those wheels are wrapped in standard 33-inch tires, but buyers can also upgrade to 35-inch BFGoodrich KO2 all-terrain rubber.AdvertisementAdvertisementThe main visual differentiator for the special edition is a "Smoky Mountain" decal along the side of the hood. The Wrangler is also outfitted with a body-color hardtop and body-color fender flares. The Sky One-Touch power soft top, a full-length, electrically retractable fabric roof, is also available. The Smoky Mountain edition comes fitted with off-road hardware that includes standard steel rock rails, a locking rear differential, and Dana 44 front and rear axles with a 4.10 axle ratio. There's also a standard trailer hitch.The blacked-out look continues inside. The seats are upholstered in Premium Black Ferndale cloth and feature an embossed texture consisting of a series of angled lines. The seats feature prominent side bolsters, which are embossed with a 1941 Willys parachute graphic, and the black interior is accented by Terracotta stitching. The gear selector also wears a unique medallion featuring an image of a bear and a cub, which Jeep says celebrates the Great Smoky Mountain region's wildlife.Standard interior equipment includes heated seats, a heated steering wheel, and automatic dual-zone climate control. Opening up the rear swing gate revealed another depiction of the 1941 Willys parachute graphic, this time shown against a backdrop of a starry night sky, mountains, and pine trees. The bear and cub graphic also appears again here.StellantisThe Smoky Mountain special edition will only be available for four-door models, but it can be had with either the 2.0-liter turbo four or the 3.6-liter V-6. Unfortunately, this is an automatic-only affair, with the six-speed manual not available. Jeep says the Smoky Mountain edition costs just $80 more than a similarly equipped Willys trim.
