LUXEED, jointly built by Huawei and Chery, officially announced its all-new SUV model — the LUXEED RX. The LUXEED RX breaks the previous numeric naming convention of HIMA. According to official sources, R stands for Revolution, while X represents being undefined and infinite possibilities. LUXEED RX headlights. It is understood that the new car’s design was led by a former chief designer of Ferrari. Based on official teasers, the LUXEED RX features a tension-filled curved surface design, with a low, aggressive stance. The long hood and short rear overhang give it a strong sports GT character. Additionally, the front fascia adopts a clamshell hood, with an illuminated brand logo at the center. The headlights are interactive projection units. The front bumper features an aggressive shape with what appear to be air ducts on both sides. At the rear, an inverted U-shaped full-width star diamond taillight is used, with the brand’s English logo below — a highly recognizable design. LUXEED RX Star Diamond taillights. In terms of intelligence, a LiDAR unit can be seen on the roof, likely Huawei’s latest 896-line dual-optical-path image-grade LiDAR. The overall intelligence level of the vehicle is worth looking forward to. Based on LUXEED’s previous configuration practices, the new model will most likely be equipped with Huawei’s Qiankun intelligent driving system, HarmonyOS intelligent cockpit, and other Huawei full-stack technology solutions. LUXEED RX Star Diamond taillights. The debut of the LUXEED RX comes at a time when LUXEED is facing severe market challenges. Data shows that in the full year 2025, LUXEED sales reached 90,500 units, a year-on-year increase of 56%, and hit a monthly peak of 11,838 units in December 2025. However, since December 2025, LUXEED sales have declined for six consecutive months, with only 2,314 units sold in April 2026. LUXEED set an annual target of 300k to 350k units at the beginning of the year. Cumulative sales from January to May reached 14,706 units, achieving only 4.9% of the target. LUXEED urgently needs a volume model to inject new momentum into the brand. According to the plan, the LUXEED RX will officially debut in the autumn of this year. After launch, the new model will compete with vehicles such as the Tesla Model Y and AITO M7.
