A woman is going viral on TikTok after sharing a tense road encounter she says escalated quickly after another driver cut her off—not once, but twice. Gina (@whatsthatmeen), a server, says she was driving her white Corvette to work in an exit lane when she noticed a dark green Lexus SUV traveling beside her. According to Gina, there were no cars behind either of them for roughly 20 car lengths, and neither vehicle was in danger of missing the exit. That’s what made what happened next so jarring, she says. Despite the open road, Gina claims the driver of the Lexus suddenly tried to force his way into her lane. And that, she says, was only the beginning of what turned into a chaotic and unsettling drive to work. As of this writing, Gina’s video recounting the encounter has racked up more than 289,500 views. What Happened Between the Corvette and Lexus Drivers? Gina says the situation escalated almost immediately. She claims the driver “just slams into me,” prompting her to hit the brakes and honk. In response, she says, the man flipped her off. Still shaken, Gina says she continued driving “business as usual” and exited the highway alongside the Lexus. At the bottom of the ramp, both lanes were stopped at a red light, which gave her a chance to pull up next to him. “I pull up next to him,” she said. But Gina says that as soon as she tried to speak, the man began yelling and calling her names. She admits she responded in kind. After the exchange ended, Gina says she tried to move forward, but she claims the driver intentionally swerved in front of her again, forcing her to slam on the brakes a second time. Moments later, she says she spotted the Lexus once more as she sat at another red light in the middle of a three-lane road. While applying mascara, Gina says she noticed the man pull up behind her, shout out the window, and extend his phone to record her. According to Gina, he mocked her license plate, which reads “NICE THING,” and continued calling her names. She says she confronted him for putting both of them in danger and questioned why he would record her when she believed he was clearly in the wrong. “What is that about? Is it his ego?” she asks. Someone Cut Me Off While Driving. What Now? If someone cuts you off while you’re driving, the safest move is actually not to engage with the person who cut you off. Instead of getting into a screaming match with them, slow down, create space, and let them go. While it can feel frustrating to deal with a driver like the one Gina encountered in the moment, reacting emotionally can turn the situation into something far more dangerous. Assuming the other driver caused a crash in which someone’s car was damaged or someone was hurt, safety comes first. In that case, it’s safest to pull over as soon as you can—ideally, somewhere well-lit and away from traffic—call the police, and make sure a report is filed. You’ll also want to take all the proper precautions one would typically take in the event of a car accident, such as exchanging insurance information with the other driver and notifying your insurance company as soon as possible. Even if you rear-ended someone after being cut off, the other driver can still be held responsible if their actions caused the accident. The goal in all of this is to get to your destination safely. After all, you don’t win points for proving a point on the road, but you do protect yourself by staying calm and documenting what happens if things do go awry. Viewers Accuse Driver of Being Jealous In the comments section, many viewers tried to make sense of why the man kept cutting off Gina, and many landed on the same theory. “First off, White Corvette!!! He’s hurt,” one woman suggested. “You already won bby.” “I wish you would have started with white Corvette,” another wrote. “He definitely targeted you from the very beginning!!” “Oh, he was mad you were driving a Corvette, and he wasn’t,” another commenter said. “He was jealous of your Corvette,” a fourth commenter added flatly. Beyond jealousy, some zeroed in on ego, saying the man’s reaction said more about him than the situation. “Just say, ‘Sir, there is no reason to be so emotional,’” one person joked. “They’re always so emotional,” another chimed in. A third agreed, writing, “Yeah, it’s an ego thing. People now a days care way more about their ego than they should.” Still, a handful of commenters urged Gina to avoid engaging with aggressive drivers at all. “People, be careful confronting people,” one warned. “This world is sick there’s too many incidents of horrible road rage.” “Girl, I understand the desire to call him out, but please, in the future, prioritize your safety,” another said.
