How many news articles do you go to now that are behind a paywall? This is the era of media we’re in — news sites need subscribers. There are sites, like The Guardian, that want to make sure content is accessible and important news and discussions get out there to the public, but then you still get the large, bright, constant banners asking you to contribute. Which is fine, but it’s again about the support media organizations need in order to do their work. On other sites, you get bombarded with popups, video ads, swarms of ads. We’ve done our best this year to improve the reader experience, removing popup ads, trying to find the right balance of in-article ads on mobile, and just overall trying to make the reader experience good. We’ve been dedicated to covering the cleantech industry and the overall energy industry as honestly, usefully, and passionately as we can for more than 15 years. That experience and the extensive background of information we have in our heads and on our site from these many years of coverage are unusual as well. Frankly, we’ve lived through several eras of technology, and several eras of social media, and it seems as important as ever to have thorough coverage and analysis of the cleantech arena and the not-cleantech arena. If you can support us in our work, we appreciate it. If you support us monthly, we’d always appreciate if that monthly amount was increased. If you can support us with a one-time contribution but don’t want to commit to monthly contributions, that’s fine! If you want to start giving us a small monthly tip, great! You can contribute via Stripe, or you can do so via Substack. Thank you.
