Canadian dealership groups continued to add to their portfolios in Quebec and Ontario this summer and fall, as buy-sell activity kept up at a steady clip entering the final stretch of 2026.

Northern Roads buys Mississauga Kia

Northern Roads Auto Group has built on several recent Ontario acquisitions with the purchase of Mississauga Kia.

The group helmed by CEO Luciano Butera closed on the deal Oct. 29, according to the store’s previous owner, 401 Group of Companies.

Northern Roads Auto Group owns five new-vehicle dealerships in Ontario following the deal.

401 Group said the sale will enable it to focus on non-metro markets. Despite the divestiture, the acquisitive group continues to grow. It added two dealerships in Sudbury in October.

Groupe Ouellet adds Sherbrooke GM

Groupe Ouellet, one of Quebec’s largest dealership groups, added its 25th new-car franchise Oct. 8, with the acquisition of Thibault Chevrolet Buick-GMC-Cadillac in Sherbrooke.

The group said the purchase of the store, which has over 100 staff and sells about 1,500 new and used vehicles per year, adds to its footprint in Sherbrooke, where the company also owns Audi, Subaru and Volkswagen dealerships.

The dealership, helmed by Ronald and Christian Thibault, opened in 1999.

Buy-sell advisory Templeton Marsh brokered the deal.

An ownership transition is expected to take place over the next 12 months. The store will be renamed Sherbrooke Chevrolet Buick-GMC-Cadillac as part of the shift.

22G Auto Group grows

Doubling its new-vehicle store count, 22G Auto Group acquired Bolton Kia, northwest of Toronto, in September.

The group that also owns Caledon Mitsubishi and a used-vehicle store in Brampton is helmed by Mani Boparai and Jiwan Sidhu.

Plaza Auto Group was the previous owner of the Kia dealership.

The purchase was brokered by the Tim Lamb Group.

World Cars Kia changes hands

The sole Kia dealership in Sault Ste. Marie, Ont. is under new ownership.

Jeremy Mannella and Cory Houghton acquired World Cars Kia Oct. 1, renaming the dealership Forge Kia as part of the purchase. The pair also own Sudbury Hyundai.

World Cars Kia was previously owned by Mark Dick.

In a social media post, Mannella said the new ownership team plans to invest in a new dealership to replace World Cars Kia’s aging location.

Franke Mercedes-Benz sells

Tremblay Auto Groupe expanded into the luxury market in July with the acquisition of Franke Mercedes-Benz, in Ste-Agathe, northwest of Montreal.

The group owns eight new-vehicle stores in Quebec following the purchase from the Franke family, who had operated the dealership for nearly 70 years, according to buy-sell advisory DSMA, which brokered the deal.

The dealership was renamed Mercedes-Benz Ste-Agathe following the purchase.

Roadsport Auto grows

Roadsport Auto Group added a second dealership in Chatham, Ont. in June.

The Toronto-based group said June 13 that it acquired Volkswagen Chatham from Leavens Automotive Group.

The purchase brings a sixth new-car store into Roadsport Auto’s portfolio that spans Ontario and New Brunswick. It also doubles its store count in Chatham, where it owns Chatham Honda.

Roadsport Auto President Chris Gauthier said on LinkedIn that the purchase contributes to the company’s continued growth and will allow the group to build a closer connection to Chatham, where it has operated since 2021.
