We should be glad they’re still making these! Sports cars are getting fewer and farther between, especially relatively affordable sports cars like the 2027 Nissan Z (no price yet on the ’27 model but a ’26 starts in the low 40s). Sales of the Nissan Z surged last year to 5,487 units, a 73.4% increase over 2024. That outsold its only real competitor, the Toyota Supra, which sold 2,626 units in the same period, by almost two to one. For the 2027 model year, a refreshed Fairlady Z will feature new design styling aimed at increasing aerodynamic performance. The sports car will also get a manual transmission in the new NISMO MT model. Those features debuted at the Tokyo Auto Salon in January. At the New York Auto Show April 3-12, Nissan will also show off the Z’s GT-R-derived front brake rotors, restyled front bumper and grille, and larger-diameter shock absorbers aimed at enhancing stability and damping.
