Bloomberg / Getty ImagesFCA US, a subsidiary of Stellantis, is recalling 61,711 Jeep Cherokee vehicles in the U.S. after identifying a power transfer unit defect that could increase the risk of a crash or injury, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.The recall affects some 2019-2023 Jeep Cherokee models. If the power transfer unit fails, drivers could lose all drive power or the vehicle could roll away unexpectedly, both of which increase the risk of a crash, NHTSA said.A solution has not been decided yet. FCA will send owners a first letter on June 25, 2026, to let them know about the safety risk while a fix is still in progress. A second letter will be sent once a solution is ready, according to USA Today. Owners can call FCA's customer service at 1-800-853-1403.
