
Crash shuts down Route 6 in Bourne
Bourne police and the Massachusetts Department of Transportation said Wednesday that a serious crash shut down Route 6 on the mainland side of the Cape Cod Canal.
Police said three cars were involved and that one of them caught fire.
Police said the drivers were a 23-year-old man from Carver, a 46-year-old man from Lowell, and a 53-year-old man from Truro.
They said the Carver man had life-threatening injuries. He was a in a red Hyundai Kona that was nearly split in two.
MassDOT said Route 6 was closed in both directions between Edgehill Road and Herring Pond Road. Drivers should expect extended delays.
"Drivers should avoid the area and understand that other canal area roads will be impacted," MassDOT said in a release.
The road remained closed as of 4:30 p.m.
