Gasgoo Munich- CALB’s Wuhan base is sprinting toward a late-June deadline for mass production. According to an April 16 report by Gasgoo, citing the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ), the main structure of the Phase 4 plant is now complete, with production lines currently undergoing installation and commissioning.Image Source: WEDZ Media Convergence CenterSince establishing its presence in the WEDZ in 2021, the CALB Wuhan base has moved at a breakneck pace, rapidly reaching production targets. The facility has not only plugged a critical gap in Wuhan’s new-energy vehicle (NEV) power battery supply chain but also accelerated the integration and synergistic upgrading of the local industrial ecosystem.The first three phases are already up and running, boasting a combined core capacity of 40 GWh for power and energy storage batteries. These products supply mainstream NEV models like those from Dongfeng Motor Passenger Vehicle Company, driving robust production and sales figures. In 2025, the base’s output value topped 10 billion yuan, with revenue doubling for three straight years. That June, CALB poured an additional 1.2 billion yuan into the city to construct the Phase 4 battery PACK production line.The Phase 4 project centers on the intelligent manufacturing of battery PACK systems. Plans include six high-standard smart production lines with a designed annual capacity of approximately 400,000 sets. Once operational, this will significantly boost the local capability to supply battery packs.To date, the WEDZ has attracted 9 automakers, 14 vehicle assembly plants, and more than 1,000 auto parts manufacturers. The zone is racing toward its goal of building a 100-billion-yuan new-energy corridor, accelerating the transformation of the "China Auto Valley" into the "World Auto Valley."
