Iberdrola and BYD are marketing the offer under “Plan Recarga Inteligente”, supported by a previously formed strategic partnership. When purchasing a BYD model, customers receive a wallbox if they arrange the installation through Iberdrola. Customers who opt for Iberdrola’s “Plan Recarga Inteligente” tariff also get a discount on their electricity contract and benefits for public charging.

Just earlier this week, BYD also announced a similar offer in Germany in collaboration with energy company E.ON. In the UK, the Chinese automaker has partnered with energy provider Octopus Energy since the summer, where the two companies also offer bidirectional charging. This is not (yet) the case in Germany and Spain.

In Spain, the package includes a home charging station, subsidised installation, and energy for both home and public charging. The two companies say their partnership aims to make electrified mobility more accessible through an offer with infrastructure and energy savings, as well as “high user-friendliness.”

For the installation of the wallbox, customers pay only half the market price, according to Iberdrola, which corresponds to savings of 969 euros. At the same time, the “Plan Recarga Inteligente” tariff is based on an energy price of 0.25€/kWh incl. taxes. Iberdrola grants a discount on the electricity tariff for home charging, equivalent to the energy required for a driving distance of 10,000 kilometres per year over a period of three years.

For public charging, there is also a six-month 50% discount at selected locations in Iberdrola España’s public charging network. This is followed by a 12-month free membership in the “Plan Recarga +” (worth 9.99 euros per month), which provides users with a 20% discount on charging sessions.

Luis Buil, Iberdrola España’s Smart Solutions Director, said: “Thanks to this agreement, BYD customers will have access to first-class charging infrastructure, backed by smart tariffs designed to maximise savings at home and an increasingly extensive and reliable public network with more than 12,000 operational charging points.”
