BYD launched its luxury sub-brand Denza in Europe with a little help from James Bond himself. The Denza Z9 GT EV can recharge in as little as 5 minutes, can drive nearly 400 miles on a single charge, and looks like something straight out of an action movie. BYD reveals Denza Z9 GT EV prices in Europe After revealing the new Denza Z9 GT EV in China just over a month ago, BYD’s luxury brand claimed it was the “world’s longest pure electric driving range vehicle” with a CLTC driving range of up to 1,036 km (644 miles) on a single charge. In Europe, the electric shooting brake has a WLTP range of up to 599 km (372 miles). BYD launched the Denza Z9 GT at the Paris Opera House on Wednesday night, alongside the D9, a premium 7-seater plug-in hybrid MPV. The new Denza models are the first to feature BYD’s Blade Battery 2.0 and Flash Charging technology, enabling them to recharge as quickly as filling up at the pump. To go from 10% to 97% it takes just 9 minutes, and even in temperatures as low as -30°C, it takes only 3 minutes longer, replenishing the battery from 20% to 97% in 12 minutes. The Denza Z9 GT is available in purely electric (EV) and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrains. BYD initially opened orders in France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the UK with plans to expand to 30 countries by the end of 2026. Measuring 5,195 mm long, 1,990 mm wide, and 1,480 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 3,125 mm, the Denza Z9 GT is around the same size as the Porsche Panamera or Taycan. Although that’s over three times more than the starting price in China, it just undercuts the Porsche Panamera, which starts at €116,400 ($136,000) in Germany. In China, the Denza Z9 GT is available from 269,800 yuan ($39,300). BYD teamed up with Daniel Craig, best known for his 15-year run as James Bond, to launch the new luxury EV in Europe. James Bond is known for driving around high-end, flashy sports cars in the movies, making him the perfect fit to help introduce BY’s new luxury EV. “The introduction of the DENZA Z9GT in Europe marks a very important milestone for our brand. The Z9GT represents the true spirit of DENZA — where advanced technology, beautiful design and emotional driving come together,” BYD’s executive vice president Stella Li said. Li added that the luxury EV is “the perfect choice to introduce the principle of ‘Ready in 5, Full in 9, Cold Add 3’ to the world, as we start our global rollout of FLASH Charging in Europe.” Stay up to date with the latest content by subscribing to Electrek on Google News.
