Gasgoo Munich- CalmCar has launched mass production of a high-level intelligent driving solution built on Horizon Robotics' Journey 6 series chips. The system is tied to a platform project involving nearly 1 million units for a major Chinese automaker. The first model equipped with the tech has opened blind bookings, with a formal launch slated for September. Several other models from the automaker's domestic and joint venture brands are already rolling off the production line.Powered by Horizon's Journey 6B chip, the system delivers 18 TOPS of computing power. CalmCar has engineered an architecture that fuses its proprietary Transformer BEV surround perception with Horizon's Sparse4D forward perception. By leveraging sparse sensor fusion and continuous temporal modeling, the solution enables integrated driving and parking ADAS capabilities—cracking long-tail challenges such as low curbs and overhead obstacles.On the safety front, CalmCar has applied L4-grade engineering expertise to this production-ready system, adopting a 1oo2D dual-redundancy architecture. This setup allows the main domain controller to work in tandem with a redundant backup, complete with fail-safe power and communication systems. It supports dual heterogeneous sensor sets and cross-validation of autonomous driving software. If a critical fault is detected during a self-check, a healthy system seamlessly takes over to execute a fail-safe protocol, guiding the vehicle to a safe stop.For engineering delivery and cost efficiency, CalmCar has achieved a cross-platform reuse rate of over 70% for its core algorithms and toolchains, significantly shortening porting and debugging cycles. The cost of its domain controller per vehicle—specifically for the Robotaxi ConnectOne solution—is more than 30% lower than the industry average. The system also complies with a full range of domestic and international standards, including ISO, C-NCAP, E-NCAP, EU GSR II, and i-VISTA.Leveraging the global channels and compliance framework of strategic shareholder ZF, CalmCar is helping automakers expand overseas. As of mid-May 2026, collaboration between CalmCar and ZF's ADAS division has secured 40 production awards from OEMs. Looking ahead, CalmCar plans to deepen its technical partnerships with Horizon, ZF, and others to drive the mass adoption of intelligent driving across mainstream vehicle segments.
